Batwoman Star Shares Season 3 Batwing Training Video
Batwoman star Camrus Johnson has shared a training montage of himself preparing to take on the role of Batwing in the show's third season. Johnson plays Luke Fox in the CW show and has been a member of Batwoman's cast since it began in 2019, being a close confidant and offering support to both Ruby Rose's Kate Kane and Javicia Leslie's Ryan Wilder. In the season 2 finale, fans were given a moment they had long been waiting for as Fox donned the Batwing suit his father had built and used it to fight alongside Batwoman.
In the comics, Batwing is a moniker first used by David Zavimbe, a Congolese police officer who became the "Batman of Africa" in Grant Morrison's 2011 Batman Incorporated. More recently, the title has been used by Luke Fox, the son of Batman's associate Lucius Fox, to protect Gotham City and he has since become a key fixture of the Bat-Family. As the name implies, the latter version of the character is the clear inspiration for Batwoman's version of the character, albeit being a bit more tech-focused as a security specialist than an MMA fighter. Batwoman had long teased that Johnson's Fox would take up the mantle of Batwing at some point, and now it is confirmed that Johnson will be fighting alongside Batwoman throughout season 3.
Johnson took to his Instagram to post a video montage of the training he had been undertaking to play the role, adding that he "started [his] own training early last year so [he'd] be ready for Batwing Season 3 [sic]". The video, synced to "Banker Street" by Moziah and edited by MysMarvel, shows the actor performing a number of different combat sequences, involving a variety of different martial arts styles and highlighting the actor's skills and commitment to the role. Johnson had already demonstrated a great deal of martial arts talent throughout the first two seasons of Batwoman, but the actor was likely expected to step things up significantly ahead of becoming Batwing for season 3. It's been no secret that Johnson has been incredibly excited to finally suit up as Batwing. In particular, he's been keen to portray a positive Black role model as another superhero for kids to look up to. As such, it's understandable that the actor would approach the training with such gusto and drive to take things to the next level.
While little is currently known about what's in store for season 3 of Batwoman, the final episode of season 2 teased the arrival of some of the more famous members of Batman's rogues' gallery, including The Penguin, Mad Hatter, and Poison Ivy. If this proves the case, then Batwoman will likely need all the help she can get. Fortunately, she now has someone to partner up with going forward. Fans of Batwoman will have to wait until October 13th to see what's in store for both Batwing and Batwoman when the show returns for season 3.
