Girls5eva: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 2 | ScreenRant
The first season of Girls5eva ended in epic fashion, with the ladies finally getting to deliver their major comeback performance. But they did so at great risk, which meant there's likely to be repercussions. However, fans will have to wait for the season 2 - already confirmed by Peacock - to find out what those might be.
Nonetheless, the ladies are on the right path to renewed stardom and enduring careers in the music business, whether it's in front of or behind the scenes. There are so many things that could happen going forward in the acclaimed comedy - one of the best shows you can watch on Peacock - which was produced, in part, by Tina Fey. Still, there are some storylines fans want to see more than others.
10 Wickie Gets Out Of Her Billion-Year Contract
Wickie – who many fans believe to be the best character from Girls5eva - signed a ridiculous billion-year contract to work as a judge on a singing competition/martial arts combination reality show in season 1. However, she breached that contract when she got up on stage to sign with Girls5eva at Jingle Ball.
It's likely that her contract is now null and void, but that may come with massive legal ramifications. Nonetheless, hopefully she can get out of the questionable contract and move on from the gig.
9 Summer Divorces Kevin
Summer made a huge decision before the end of season 1 by finally realizing that she deserved better and telling Kevin she wanted a divorce. Staying married to keep up appearances - even though they rarely saw each other and seemingly lived different lives - meant that Summer was living a lie.
Summer was constantly deluding herself throughout the entire season, so to see her actually go through with a divorce in season 2 would allow for huge growth for the character.
8 Ashley's True Fate Is Revealed
One of the big questions in Girls5eva has been the fate of Ashley. While she supposedly died in an infinity pool accident, she still appeared frequently throughout the season in flashbacks and even via a hologram. At the end of season 1, Gloria briefly mentioned that she believed Ashley faked her own death. This comment might have been made in jest, but it leaves the door open for a possible return of the character in current times.
Back in the '90s, Ashley was the glue that held the group together, having had previous experience in seven other girl groups before landing with Girls5eva. She seemed to be the strongest personality, so seeing her return and potentially butt heads with Wickie would be a great storyline, if there's a logical way to explain where she had been all these years and why she pretended to be dead.
7 The Girls Go On Tour
The girls need to go on tour as Girls5eva again, singing new songs, opening for hot new bands or singers, or even having their own "Reunion Tour."
It would mirror so many other girl groups from that era that have reunited for concerts, tours, or even single performances, from The Spice Girls to The Pussycat Dolls to En Vogue.
6 Gloria Finds Love With Her Ex (Or Elsewhere)
Gloria had an awakening when she realized that spending so many years in the closet led her to pick up a lot of anxious habits, and she has been unable to shake them. It seemed she had a great relationship with her ex, but she was unable to relax and let go of her anxiety.
In season 2, Gloria needs to find love, whether it's with her ex or with someone new who will appreciate her for who she is. Seeing her with a girlfriend cheering her on and supporting her will be a beautiful departure from her career the first time around, when she had to spend the entire time pretending she was someone she wasn't.
5 Dawn Decides If She Wants Another Child
The episode where Dawn began to wonder if her son would become a "New York Lonely Boy" was a standout in season 1, complete with a cameo from John Slattery (most recently seen in the short-lived Fox series Next), Talia Balsam, and their real-life only child Henry.
The decision was left up in the air when Dawn wasn't sure if she wanted to have a second child, while her husband Scott was adamant they should. With her career on the rise, will she decide to get pregnant or stop at one?
4 Vanessa Williams Has A Bigger Role
Vanessa Williams' small role as Nance Trance was a great addition to season 1, and the character would be a great one to return for season 2. Interestingly, while Williams was never in a girl group, she did reach the height of her singing career in the early '90s. One of her most notable songs is "Save the Best for Last."
Williams was the perfect actor to cast in the role, and she would make a good manager for Girls5eva through their inevitable career rise. Or, conversely, she could also play a rival manager, now angry with the ladies for going back on their promises and contracts.
3 Cameos From '90s Girl Group/Boy Banders
It would so much fun to have former girl group or boy band members from the biggest '90s bands make cameos on the show, from Justin Timberlake (who has recently pivoted from music to acting) to Joey Fatone to Nick Carter to Melanie C to Nicole Scherzinger to Lance Bass and many, many more.
These performs could play themselves or portray fictional characters. Either way, it would add such another fun dimension to the series and make the season 2 guest star list as impressive as season 1.
2 More Easter Eggs
There were so many enjoyable Easter eggs in the first season of Girls5eva, and it was fun for fans, particularly those who grew up in the '90s, to spot them. It was also amusing to read about them after the fact and then re-watch the show to discover them.
Season 2 needs to have more Easter Eggs that fans can pick up on and discuss with others after watching each episode - and, of course, get a good laugh about. While a lot of the parodies and spoofs related to the biggest groups of the '90s, like The Spice Girls and NSYNC, some more obscure references might be inspired for season 2.
1 Stephen Colbert Comes Back
Stephen Colbert's guest role as Alf Musik, an obvious parody of hitmaking producer Max Martin, needs to return for more laughs. His over-the-top style, ridiculous outfits, and indistinguishable accent, make him a hilarious addition to the show. It marks an interesting switch from Colbert, who is one of the best talk show hosts from the U.S.
Perhaps he could write another song for the ladies or collaborate with Dawn on a hit tune. Whatever way he can be worked back into the show would make season 2 so much better.
