The wife of slain Haitian President Jovenel Moïse has shared the first photos showing herself laid up in a Florida hospital bed as she recovers from the assassination of her husband that left her wounded.

"Thank you for the team of guardian angels who helped me through this terrible time. With your gentle touch, kindness and care, I was able to hold on. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" First Lady Martine Moïse said in a tweet Wednesday night, along with a photo of herself appearing anguished.

In the image, Martine Moïse's right arm is seen completely bandaged.

The widow wrote in another tweet in Creole, along with a similar photo, that she still does not "believe that my husband has gone like this before my eyes without saying a last word to me."

She added, "This pain will never pass."

Gunmen stormed into the couple's residence on July 7, assassinated the Haitian president and critically injured his wife.

Local authorities have said that 26 Colombians and two Haitian Americans are among the suspects in the attack.
