Fortnite Partners With Ferrari In First Licensed Car Deal
In an unprecedented move, Fortnite has revealed a collaboration with sports car manufacturer Ferrari. The battle royale title has risen to become one of the most popular and recognizable games in the entire video game industry. In recent years Fortnite has become well-known for its crossovers with various different film, video game, and comic book franchises.
Recent leaks have supposed revealed a crossover with DC's Suicide Squad and Justice League, along with other exciting updates coming to the game in Chapter 3. The leaks suggest that Chapter 3 will bring a dramatic change to the battle royale shooter's map, along with a virtual concert from pop singer Ariana Grande. More crossover skins from the pages of DC Comics, such as the Justice League and Suicide Squad, are also detailed in the supposed Chapter 3 leak.
But, in a surprising move, Fortnite has just teased a crossover with Ferrari via Twitter. The social media post consists of a simple in-game image of a vehicle adorned with Ferrari's iconic logo. The car's tires read "Fortnite," and the red vehicle's reflection shows the game's flying Battle Bus. No other information has yet been provided, leaving players wondering what exactly the crossover will bring to Epic Games' battle royale shooter. This deal with Ferrari will be the first licensed car dealer in the game's history. Currently, Fortnite only contains a handful of cars, so a collaboration with Ferrari may bring a large number of additional vehicles to the Epic Games title.
While Epic Games is now teasing an unexpected crossover with a sports car manufacturer, the game's player base continues to wonder which crossover characters will enter Fortnite next. Fortnite's Chapter 2, Season 7 embraced a strong science fiction theme, leading many players to hope for the appearance of iconic heroes and villains such as Darth Vader or Spock. However, as the game moves into Chapter 3 the future becomes less certain, with just about any fictional character potentially making a surprise appearance.
A collaboration between Fortnite and Ferrari is quite unexpected, but it remains to be seen what exactly the crossover will entail. New branded sports cars are likely to be added to the game, but that may not be the full extent of the crossover. The Ferrari partnership follows an exciting crossover recently added basketball superstar LeBron James to Fortnite, with his appearance based on the recently-released Looney Tunes film Space Jam 2.With little information being priced by Epic Games, time will tell how exactly Ferrari fits into the world of Fortnite.
Fortnite is available on all platforms.
