Hawkeye Just Got Epically Dissed By Thor and the Ten Realms
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Thor Annual #1
In Marvel's new annual issue of Thor, Clint Barton's Hawkeye just got epically dissed by all of the Ten Realms. In the new issue, the Light Elves of Alfheim are holding a gathering to celebrate the anniversary of the War of the Realms, and as a result, they've invited several of the heroes who were present during the epic battle against the Dark Elf Malekith and his evil forces. While guests such as Thor and the heroes of the League of Realms are naturally all in attendance, it seems as though Hawkeye was an afterthought.
During the War of the Realms, Hawkeye fought alongside the Asgardian Warriors Three, Captain Marvel, Wolverine, and Shang-Chi to face the daughter of Surtur and hordes of her fire demons who had all allied themselves with Malekith. However, it seems as though Clint Barton's heroic feats weren't noteworthy enough to be noticed by the other Realms who were fighting to protects their worlds, at least not if Thor Annual #1 from Aaron Kuder and Cam Smith is any indication.
When the various heroes and warriors arrive via the Bifrost for the celebration on Alfheim, they're each given a grand introduction and welcome. However, Clint awkwardly gets introduced as Spider-Man. While Thor quickly tries to correct the situation, he ultimately confesses that Spider-Man was their first choice to attend the gathering, but he was unfortunately busy. Not only that, but it then becomes apparent that Clint wasn't even their first choice to invite after Spider-Man declined when they were looking to invite a hero from Earth/Midgard. Apparently, both Black Panther and Frank Castle's Punisher were both asked before Barton, which is a pretty bad burn all things considered.
It should be noted that each of the aforementioned heroes was likewise involved in the War of the Realms as well. While Spider-Man teamed with the League of Realms and spiders from the realm of Hel, Black Panther and the Punisher teamed with the Light Elves to defend Wakanda from the Angels of Heven. Not only that, but Frank Castle did hunt several of the surviving monsters down in the aftermath of the crossover event. That being said, it's not as if Hawkeye's exploits were any more or less notable than anyone else's. Unfortunately, it seems as though Clint's heroics were indeed somehow forgettable, which makes a certain amount of sense considering his status as a mere mortal armed with only a bow and some arrows.
However, Hawkeye got the chance to prove his worth to the Ten Realms after Thor had been in conflict with surprise foes from an alternate dimension. While one was an enigmatic being known as Valg, the other was actually a dark version of Thor known as the God of Blood and Thunder. After Thor dealt with his dark opposite, Valg soon realized how outnumbered he was when Hawkeye arrived side by side with the League of Realms, prompting him to vanish and escape into the ether. While Thor will probably be seeing Valg again in future issues, at least Hawkeye seemed to gain some more respect from the Ten Realms after being royally dissed at the start of the celebration.
