PS Plus August 2021 Games Accidentally Leaked Early By Sony

0

Sony has accidentally revealed the PlayStation Plus lineup for August 2021, as the announcement was posted on the official PlayStation website early. There's usually a lot of speculation about what the next PS+ games will be, but this month it looks like Sony jumped the gun before anyone had a chance to guess.

There is always interest in PS+ leaks, even if they aren't always reliable. A lot of people only subscribe to the service for online multiplayer, but the freebies are still a nice incentive, and a lot of people claim the free games every month, even if they never intend to play them. The PS+ giveaways have been especially interesting since the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as Sony has to compete with the incredible line-up of titles that arrive on Game Pass each month. Sony's response seems to be tied to movie promotions, such as the recent PS5/Apple TV giveaway, and the Netflix datamine that revealed PlayStation-related icons in the streaming service.

The fans won't need to speculate about the PS+ games for next month, as Sony accidentally revealed them. According to Push Square, Sony revealed the August 2021 PS+ games on the official PlayStation website, before taking it down. The PS+ games for August 2021 are Hunter's Arena: Legends, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, and Tennis World Tour 2. PS+ subscribers will be able to download them on August 3, 2021. One of the games on the list isn't surprising, as Sony had already revealed that Hunter's Arena: Legends will be a PS+ title for August during the recent State of Play event.

Hunter's Arena: Legends is a 30 player battle royale game, where competitors can take on other players or enemy monsters. Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is a first-person shooter, where the conflict between nature and the undead has spread into cities. Tennis World Tour 2 is a tennis game that was met with a harsh critical reception.

August 2021 has a lackluster line-up, which, compared with last month's offerings (as well as the free titles on Xbox Live Gold) suggests that Microsoft and Sony are cooling on the services, now that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have been on the market for a while now. Hunter's Arena: Legends could be going the Fall Guys route and trying to gain an audience through a PS+ promotion, and it will be interesting to see if it will catch on with subscribers.

If the leak is accurate, then Hunter's Arena: Legends, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville and Tennis World Tour 2 will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on August 3rd.
