The 16th meeting of the CEC of Russia was held

On 9 July 2021, the regular meeting of the CEC of Russia was held.

The CEC of Russia has decided to use technical means of counting votes – complexes of ballot processing (CBP) - during voting in the elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation.

The Chairperson of the CEC of Russia Ella Pamfilova recalled that five years ago, about 5 thousand complexes of ballot processing were used in the Russian electoral system.

"Now we have 13.8 thousand CBPs and we intend to increase their number to at least 20 thousand in the coming two years, and to the maximum of 25 thousand, so that all large polling stations are equipped with the technical means of counting votes. The CBPs have earned the trust of the voters, " Ella Pamfilova said.

Nikolay Bulaev, Deputy Chairperson of the CEC of Russia, drew attention to the fact that the existing 13.8 thousand complexes of ballot processing provide an opportunity for 26-27 million voters to take part in the vote.

"If we increase the number of CBPs to 20-25 thousand, this will allow us to install them at polling stations in district centers, which means that more than 50 percent of voters will be able to vote with the help of CBPs," he stressed.
