Titans Cast Recaps Season 1 & 2 Ahead of Season 3 Premiere
The cast of Titans recaps seasons 1 and 2 ahead of the season 3 premiere on HBO Max on August 12. The former DC Universe series—which is based on the superhero team of the same name—was created by Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman, and Greg Berlanti, with executive producer Greg Walker serving as showrunner. Titans’ cast includes Brenton Thwaites (Dick Grayson), Teagan Croft (Raven), Anna Diop (Starfire), Ryan Potter (Beast Boy), Conor Leslie (Donna Troy), Joshua Orpin (Conner/Superboy), Curran Walters (Jason Todd), Alan Richson (Hank Hall), and Minka Kelly (Dawn Granger).
After defeating Deathstroke, Titans’ season 2 finale saw the shocking death of Donna/Wonder Girl (although many believe she’ll return in some capacity) as well as the arrival of Damaris Lewis’ Blackfire. Season 3 of the series is set to introduce Vincent Kartheiser’s Dr. Jonathan Crane and Savanna Welch’s Barbara Gordon as Grayson, now Nightwing, and the rest of the Titans deal with the Red Hood. The action is shifting from San Francisco to the home of the Dark Knight, Gotham.
For those not caught up on Titans over the past two seasons, HBO Max recently released a recap featurette. In the video, Brendon Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Joshua Orpin, and Curran Walkers get viewers caught up on everything they need to know heading into season 3. Check it out below:

As seen in the trailer for Titans season 3, the show appears to be adapting the well-known Batman storyline Death in the Family. Jim Starline’s narrative has been explored in the animations and even referenced in the DC Extended Universe’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, this will be the first live-action adaptation of Jason Todd's death at the hands of the Joker. In Titans, this is supposedly what motives Bruce Wayne (Iain Glen) to step down and Grayson to become Gotham's new Batman. It’ll be interesting to see how the show deviates from the comics.
The mantle of Red Hood has historically been adopted by multiple baddies. The most memorable person to wear the hood being a Todd. Usually, Todd “dies” and then, years later, is revealed to be Red Hood. Despite the series’ apparent decision to fast-track this story (or is it all misdirection?), Titans’ grittier and more adult tone should suit it perfectly. On top of that, Grayson’s dysfunctional relationship with Batman is an adept mirror for Todd’s. In addition to Death in the Family, some aspects from season 3 nod at The Killing Joke, where the Joker paralyzes Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), who is now the new Commissioner for the Gotham City Police Department. All of that being said, there’s a lot to keep in mind. Thankfully, we have a recap video.
