Genshin Impact: Where to Find Tanuki (& What They Do)
Players will need to find hidden Tanukis for a world quest in Genshin Impact. Genshin Impact recently released its version 2.0 update that introduced the Inazuma region. This area comes with a bustling city, new underground passageways, and Domains to complete. Before players truly jump into everything the region has to offer, it is recommended they complete the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual questline. It comes along with several quests that, once completed, will allow players to travel across Inazuma much more easily. Players can also face off against one of the region's hidden bosses once they complete the quests. In one of the quests in this line, players will need to locate three hidden Tanukis. These are small, mischievous creatures that appear throughout the world and turn into objects. Interacting with the Tanuki while it is in disguise and lighting a fake torch or activating a monument will expose the Tanuki's true nature, and it will leave behind a small gift as it teleports away.
Finding hidden Tanukis in Genshin Impact is the fourth stage of the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual questline, called the Hayashi of the Tanuki on the Forest. This quest is unlocked after completing the Sacrificial Offering quest. Players will be tasked with walking around the Chinju Forest until they hear a mysterious voice. After hearing the voice, the quest for the Tanukis will immediately begin. There are three hidden Tanukis to find during the Hayashi of the Tanuki on the Forest quest in Genshin Impact. Here is where players can find them all.
- Tanuki #1: Located at the top of the steps from the initial statue. When players approach it, it will begin to dance and teleport away. They should follow it until it transforms into a torch, then use a Pyro attack to light it.
- Tanuki #2: Located to the right of the first Tanuki. Players will need to defeat Hilichurls around a rock. Then, they will need to climb the rock and attack the barrel to find the Tanuki waiting inside.
- Tanuki #3: Located to the southeast of the rock from the second Tanuki. It will disappear after the player approaches it, similar to the first Tanuki. Players should follow it, and use a Pyro attack once it transforms into a torch.
With all the Tanukis located, a new quest marker will appear, and players will be able to cleanse the barrier in the area. This is the second-to-last step needed to complete the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual questline. Finding the hidden Tanukis in Genshin Impact isn't too difficult, and it will continue to open up new locations in Inazuma.
