Drax Tries To Flirt In Guardians of the Galaxy Cinematic Trailer
Square Enix and publisher Eidos Montréal have released a new cinematic trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, offering a close look at Drax's attempt to woo Lady Hellbender. The two companies officially unveiled the licensed title at E3 2021, complete with full details and a lengthy look at gameplay.
Unlike Square Enix's other major Marvel title, Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy is a completely single-player experience with no multiplayer component whatsoever. Players will assume the role of GOTG leader Star-Lord, who's accompanied on this particular interactive adventure by Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon. In a manner reminiscent of Mass Effect, Star-Lord controls the behaviors of each character in combat through a set of commands that players can access at leisure. Dialogue choices should prove similarly interesting, affecting both moment-to-moment interactions and the overarching story. And, apparently, GOTG features even more dialogue than Deus Ex.
The latest cinematic trailer for the Guardians of the Galaxy game shows a bit more of the dialogue options, one of which encourages Drax to flirt with Lady Hellbender. At more than three minutes in length, the footage begins with Lady Hellbender accepting a Tara-tara beast into her domain before meeting with the Guardians. She's most interested in Drax, though, having heard of his previous exploits across the galaxy. And, as Drax himself observes, she seems to flirt with him, culminating in Star-Lord offering his friend a bit of advice at the player's choosing. Star-Lord's encouragement to "flatter her" puts Drax in a pretty humorous position.
The above is an interesting scene, one consistent with the tone of previously shown GOTG gameplay footage. With the title's release date fast approaching, Square Enix and Eidos Montréal are bound to showcase even more of the gameplay sooner rather than later.
For those who may harbor concerns about in-game purchases and the like, developers have already explained that such content won't factor into the experience. Executive Narrative Director Mary DeMarle noted as much in an interview with Stevivor, telling the publication that Guardians of the Galaxy will not feature microtransactions. Thus, all outfits and other items will be unlockable simply by playing the game.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy hits PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 26, 2021.
