Apex Legends Dev Admits New Character Seer Is Too Strong

0

Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind popular battle royale Apex Legends, recently conceded that the newly added character Seer was a bit too overpowered. The development team has promised an upcoming patch to help balance the character, who was introduced as part of the Season 10: Emergence update to the game.

Apex Legends has received plenty of character adjustments since its initial release back in 2019. As a hero shooter, the game needs to be able to properly balance each character's abilities and stats to keep matches both fun and fair. The arrival of new characters like Seer brings new abilities that have the potential to change the dynamic of each game. In the case of Seer, players could utilize specialized tracking abilities and long-reaching disruption powers, making this particular character a bit too powerful in the eyes of many gamers.

As first reported on by Games Radar, Respawn staff member Travis Nordin recently addressed complaints of Seer being overpowered. "[Seeris probably a bit too strong at the moment and will receiving some balance updates in an upcoming patch," Nordin said in a Reddit Q&A. He went on to say that players can expect the update soon, suggesting that the recent Apex Legends hacking fiasco is no longer significantly impeding progress on Respawn's games.

The introduction of new characters like Seer and Respawn's prompt response to player concerns further cement the notion that the developer is putting a lot of its weight behind Apex Legends. Of course, this is nothing but positive for those who like the hero-based battle royale shooter but could be somewhat discouraging for gamers who wish to see Respawn continue to diversify its catalog and support its other beloved titles. The developer made waves with the successful single-player Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in late 2019, but some fans have felt that the company has been neglecting its other popular titles. Most notably is the recent news that Titanfall only has one or two developers working on it.

Still, Apex Legends maintains its position as an immensely successful multiplayer game despite some fans' desire to see more support for older titles. Respawn's commitment to polishing and balancing the game through its multitudinous updates is also admirable, as it demonstrates a steadfast dedication to creating a fun gaming experience. If the development team can succeed in tweaking some of Seer's abilities, Season 10 could be one of Apex Legends's best.
