A very dedicated Final Fantasy fan has recently unlocked every PlayStation trophy available for the series, claiming to be the only person to have achieved this milestone so far. Trophy and achievement hunting remains a popular way to experience longtime favorites in a new way, with PlayStation players being awarded a Platinum Trophy upon attaining all other trophies for a game.
Final Fantasy fans will soon have no shortage of new and remastered games to play and collect trophies in, with seven titles in the franchise currently known to be in development. This includes the next mainline addition to the series, Final Fantasy XVI, which was first revealed during the PlayStation 5 showcase in 2020. However, no release date has yet been announced for the title. While the wait for FF16 has continued, Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters of the first through third original games were released for PC and mobile devices in July, with the subsequent three entries set to launch some time in August. In November, Final Fantasy XIV expansion Endwalker will also arrive, which will bring the storyline that began with A Realm Reborn to a close.
There are plenty of Final Fantasy games already available, however, and Reddit user Rebourne07 says they're the first to unlock every PlayStation trophy in the series to date. As proof, they provided a screenshot of their Final Fantasy trophy list from PSNProfiles on the r/gaming subreddit. Rebourne07’s feat is no doubt impressive, but their claim is difficult to fully verify. The aforementioned website displays PlayStation users’ profiles that utilize the website to track their trophy progress, meaning the trophies of players who don't use PSNProfiles can't be tracked as easily.
Previously, the Redditor was just one of two PSNProfiles users to platinum every game in the Final Fantasy series. That was until new entries and DLC, including the PS5-exclusive Final Fantasy VII Remake INTERmission story chapters, sent Rebourne07 back to trophy hunting. Now, the determined player can once again lay claim to their completionist title, having earned a total of 1,028 trophies across 25 Final Fantasy titles on PlayStation, with the time invested into their achievement adding up to over five years of playtime.
Although it may be impossible to ascertain whether Rebourne07 is truly the only person to have ever obtained all of the trophies in the Final Fantasy series on PlayStation, it is still an accomplishment that only the most devoted of franchise fans would dare to aim for. The player will have a short while to rest up before their work begins anew, as the next addition to the franchise, spinoff game Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, is set to release in 2022.
