Shang-Chi Uses All Ten Rings In New Marvel TV Spot | Screen Rant

0

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' latest TV spot features Shang-Chi wearing and using all Ten Rings. Marvel Studios is keeping the ball running for Phase 4 with its next big-screen project less than a month away from hitting theaters. Unlike its recent projects, this upcoming film will debut a brand new hero in the MCU in Shang-Chi, played by Simu Liu.

Directed by Destin Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was announced during Marvel Studios' Hall H panel back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Like all other tentpole movies, it was pushed back significantly due to the pandemic, as production had to shut down not long after it started back at the start of 2020. Eventually, however, it was able to finish principal photography, impressively with no single positive coronavirus case. Specific plot details are still tightly under wraps. Still, the film's premise revolves around Shang-Chi's refusal to follow in his father's footsteps, Wenwu — the real Mandarin (Tony Leung) as a crime lord powered by the mystical Ten Rings.

The mysterious weapons continue to be the focus of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' marketing. While a full trailer may be out of the question now that it's only several weeks ahead from premiering, shorter TV spots are released, revealing more footage from the film. The latest features several shots of Shang-Chi wearing all Ten Rings and using their power at one point. Watch the clip below as shared by Instagram fan account esp_marvel:

The clip features several shots of Shang-Chi using the Ten Rings — all of them looking to be during the final battle in the movie. One standout scene sees the bangles change from blue, the color of Mandarin's energy, to yellow, which is Shang-Chi's. This could mean that it's the aftermath of the pair's tug-of-war with the magical weapons as explicitly shown in various marketing materials for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, such as banners and posters. There's also a shot at the end where Shang-Chi harnesses the Rings to create an energy blast towards something, although the target is not revealed. As for the Mandarin, there's a point in the video where he uses the Rings to launch him from the ground; ironically, it's reminiscent of how Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) propulsors work.

Expect that Marvel Studios will continue to roll out TV spots for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as its premiere nears. As seen in the clip, it doesn't seem like there's any change to its release scheme, sticking to an exclusive theater release instead of a hybrid that includes a simultaneous drop on Disney+ with Premier Access. That's despite the growing threat by the Delta variant of the coronavirus. That said, this doesn't mean that Disney can not change their plan in the coming weeks.
