JAMES Corden had to isolate for a week after filming on his new British sitcom, Mammals, ground to halt following a positive Covid test result on the set of the show.

His British comedy comeback got off to a faltering start last month, when cast and crew had to down tools just two weeks into the schedule.

The Gavin & Stacey star had to go into isolation for a week along with other cast and crew of the show, which was being filmed in London and Cornwall.

A TV insider said: “This is a real blow for the production team, who have a tightly run schedule which now has to be ripped up and redrafted.

“Filming has now resumed but obviously the bosses are on tenterhooks waiting for another positive test result.

“They’re taking every precaution they can to make the set as safe as possible.”

James, who is usually in the US filming The Late Late Show, announced the six-part sitcom last month, which sees him star opposite Oscar-nominee Sally Hawkins.

The Sun also exclusively revealed that singing legend Tom Jones, 81, had a cameo in the Amazon Prime Video series.

The blow for Mammals comes after Netflix’s steamy period drama Bridgerton had to stop and restart filming twice last month due to positive Covid tests, first among the crew then among the cast.

Other shows which have had temporarily stop filming include Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon; Sky’s Gangs of London and in the US, Westworld and American Horror Story were also brought to a halt.
