A spokesperson told E! News: “Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart.
“After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones, and wife NeNe Leakes.”
“We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very, very difficult time,” the statement concluded.
NeNe, 53, and Gregg first tied the knot in 1997, before divorcing in 2011. However, the pair would reunite and once again walk down the aisle in 2013.
The TV personality was previously seen addressing guests about her husband at her lounge, The Linnethia after she was called out for not wishing a customer a happy birthday.
In a clip obtained by OnSite, NeNe could be heard saying at the time: “My husband is transitioning to the other side.”
She elaborated: “You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now.

A ROUGH ROAD
While Greg was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer three years ago, he had been on the road to recovery in recent years.
However, in June, NeNe revealed his cancer had returned and asked fans to “pray for Gregg.”
NeNe had been quite open about her husband’s battle, even revealing the difficulty of taking care of him.
‘IT’S VERY, VERY HARD’
She previously admitted: “It’s very, very hard to be a caretaker.
“People call and they say, ‘How’s Gregg doing?’ and I want to throw the phone and say, ‘How the f**k am I doing? I’m going crazy over here, Gregg is wearing me out!’
“I am not good at this s**t! I would rather hire somebody. Gregg doesn’t wants me to hire somebody…”
Gregg would also touch on his wife’s sacrifice, and write: “…I’m tired of hurting my wife who is only trying to take good care of me and wants only the best for me too.
“She deserves much more for her hard efforts and tireless hours spent on me…”
