U.S. stocks open higher following jobless claims data

NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks rose on Thursday morning, following the release of a better-than-expected jobless claims report.

Shortly after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 102.29 points, or 0.29 percent, to 35,414.82. The S&P 500 increased 14.66 points, or 0.32 percent, to 4,538.75. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 49.91 points, or 0.33 percent, to 15,359.29.
