What We Do In The Shadows: Where You Recognize The Vampire Council Guide From
The Floating Woman returned in the What We Do In The Shadows season 3 premiere as The Guide for the Vampiric Council — but who plays her? The Floating Woman first debuted on the series in the season 1 episode "The Trial." The actor is likely familiar to most viewers; however, rather than recognize her appearance, many are more likely to recall her iconic voice.
The What We Do In The Shadows season 3 cast is full of talented actors lending their comedic chops to the show's unique premise and tone. The hit FX series is a spin-off of Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's iconic 2014 cult film of the same name but is set in the Tri-State area (the movie is set in Wellington, New Zealand). Waititi and Clement have both reprised their roles as the vampires Viago and Vladislav for the TV series, but are now members of the Vampiric Council — assisted by the Floating Woman.
The Floating Woman is played by Kristen Schaal. Referring to herself as The Guide, she returns in the WWDITS season 3 premiere. She informs Laszlo, Nadja and Nandor (and technically Colin, although it's unclear if that was intentional) that they have a message. She plays them a tape in which Viago appoints them the new Vampiric Council members for the area. The Floating Woman will likely continue to serve as their guide as they adjust to their new duties.
Kristen Schaal is an American actress, best known for her voice acting roles — although she has also appeared in live-action projects as well. Schaal's distinctly mischievous cadence can be heard in several animated projects. She's likely best known from Bob's Burgers, in which Schaal has the role of Louise Belcher. Schall also provided the voice for Mabel Pines in Gravity Falls and Sarah Lynn on BoJack Horseman (as well as voicing other characters).
The talented comedian and character actor has appeared in many TV and movie roles over the years — although her breakout role was, arguably, the dedicated fan (and possible stalker) Mel in Flight of the Conchords. In addition to her voice acting work, she was a lead in the TV series The Last Man on Earth. Schaal has had several memorable supporting roles in film as well, appearing in comedies such as When In Rome, Welcome to the Jungle, and Bill & Ted Face the Music. With Schaal back on What We Do In The Shadows for season 3, hopefully, her new role helping the main vampires adjust to life on the Vampiric Council won't be short-lived.
