Big Brother 23: Biggest News Stories From The Cast This Week (Sep 10)
The week leading up to the first Double Eviction on Big Brother 23 has been a very eventful and exciting time for the overall fandom. Some fans had been worrying that a Triple Eviction was coming up on BB23. The only Triple in the history of this show took place last year on Big Brother 22: All-Stars, but certain fans were still convinced that production would repeat that formula in 2021.
Nonetheless, a Triple Eviction just didn't happen. Instead, longtime host Julie Chen announced that BB23 would feature two back-to-back Double Evictions: one during the Thursday, September 9 episode and another during the Thursday, September 16 episode. The latter will be a two-hour episode, which fans are now also speculating about. Leading up to this first Double Eviction, there was a lot of game talk among the BB23 players and social media chatter within the Big Brother community and fandom.
The first Double Eviction resulted in Claire Rehfuss and Alyssa Lopez's evictions on BB23. Viewers saw this coming from a mile away given that the Cookout's master plan was to take all of its alliance members to Final 6. However, they still needed to make it work, despite Claire and Alyssa not making it any easier on them. Now, it's time to round up the main Big Brother news of the week.
The Cookout has now made history by taking all six alliance members to Final 6. This is the first Final 6 in the history of Big Brother to feature six Black houseguests. Past seasons have made it very hard for Black players to reach the endgame, making it virtually impossible for two or more of them to get to the end. Alas, the Cookout has pulled off an all-Black Final 6 on BB23, which is a historic moment for this entire franchise. Most of all, this achievement guarantees that season 23 will crown a Black winner, making him or her the first-ever Black winner on American Big Brother.
Unfortunately, this week has also featured some tension, drama, and back-and-forth between Big Brother 22: All-Stars co-stars Cody Calafiore and Da'Vonne Rogers. Cody and Da'Vonne had never competed together on the show. Cody played on BB16, whereas Da'Vonne had been cast on BB17 and BB18. They competed against each other on BB22, with Cody's Committee taking out Da'Vonne and everyone else outside the alliance. Alas, Cody disagrees that Da'Vonne made the Cookout happen, which is something many fans had been saying all season long. Da'Vonne responded to Cody asking why he was still talking about her a year after they last spoke on BB22.
CBS produced a season of Celebrity Big Brother in both 2018 and 2019, but the network skipped 2020 due to growing concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic. In the US, Celebrity Big Brother typically premieres around February, which was about the time when the COVID-19 virus started to spread in a significant way in America. There was hope that CBS would bring CBB back as soon as it was safe to produce another cycle, and confirmation is finally here. This week, CBS announced that Celebrity Big Brother season 3 will premiere in 2022. As always, it's time to expect the unexpected!
Big Brother 23 airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST/PST on CBS.
