The Premise: The 10 Bravest Characters | ScreenRant

The FX and Hulu anthology series The Premise explores a number of different complex and complicated situations as it examines issues of social justice, celebrity culture, gun violence, sex, religion, and revenge. As a result, many of the main characters end up in complicated and tense situations that require them to be brave by going against the societal pressure they feel, such as Abbi rejecting the American school system or Eli developing a product the world sees as a punchline.

While some of these situations involve the characters facing potential public humiliation or social rejection, like Ethan does when his sex tape is released, other more dire scenarios have even higher stakes, forcing the characters to make life or death decisions, as Chase does when he sacrifices his life to make a statement about gun control. The characters are put in high-pressure situations that force them to reveal their true personalities and demonstrates their bravery.

10 Mr. Holmes

As the grump old history teacher, Mr. Holmes is frustrated that his students do not understand the danger and violence of history. When he is interviewed by Andy Cohen, he is unafraid to speak his mind and denounce meaningless celebrity-focused entertainment.

He is completely unaffected by the media circus and gives a fair and unbiased verdict in the history fair. Mr. Holmes wants his students to learn the value of the past and is not concerned with must else. He is brave enough to hold fast to his convictions and not allow any of the pressure to affect him.

9 Aaron

Aaron is the only person who really makes an attempt to befriend Chase and does all that he can to help him. When it appears as though Chase is going to shoot up the NGL on the anniversary of his daughter's death, Aaron does everything he can to convince Chase not to come to work. But when Chase tells Aaron not to show up to work, he refuses.

Even though he thought he was facing possible death, he refused to back down and would not abandon his coworkers. While he ends up misreading the situation terribly, it was his perception, not his bravery that let him down.

8 Rayna Bradshaw

As the head of a high-profile non-profit law firm, Rayna Bradshaw is forced to make many difficult decisions. She knows the importance of choosing the right cases to take on as a loss damages their reputation. But she listens to Eve and gives her permission to take on Darren Williams' case.

Rayna has the courage to sign off on Eve pursuing the highly irregular and potentially embarrassing case. She is willing to take a chance in order to help out an innocent man and her bravery is rewarded with a victory.

7 Eli Spector

Eli is unsure if Daniel's offer to set up a pitch meeting is an act of mercy or revenge. But he summons the courage to be vulnerable and put his entire heart and soul into this new venture. He gets up in front of a room full of people who are only there to embarrass him but still has the strength to give an impassioned presentation.

While The Premise may not be the best anthology show ever, it has its moments and Eli's presentation is one of the highlights. He is willing to risk humiliation in pursuit of opportunity. And despite Daniel's cruel response, Eli's bravery leads him to an important place of self-discovery.

6 Eve Stone

As an advocate for justice, Eve is bombarded with requests for help. She is forced to pick her battles and she chooses to stake her reputation on Darren Williams' case. She knows that he is innocent and she is willing to do anything, including engaging in some pretty unbelievable courtroom scenes, to prove it.

Eve is brave enough to go to Rayna and fight for the right to pursue the case. She is then courageous as she defends Darren no matter how grim the situation gets. She is not afraid to do what is right, even when it is intimidating or difficult.

5 Allegra

When an anonymous commenter begins calling out Allegra for her shallow life and surface-level relationships, she is forced to take an honest look at herself. Despite having a comfortable and enviable life, she eventually determines that the commenter is correct.

Allegra makes the radical decision to quit her comfortable job and end her safe relationship in order to pursue the life that she really wants. She is brave enough to give up the security she had so that she can build a new, more authentic life.

4 Abbi Miller

Abbi is completely unafraid to march to the beat of her own drum. She is incredibly smart but rejects the school system and is unaffected by threats of expulsion. When she sets out to become the valedictorian, she does not allow any negativity to stop her. At her graduation, she is bold and announces that she slept with Jesse and flips off the crowd.

Like her character in the recent Dear Evan Hansen, Kaitlyn Dever's Abbi is a complicated and compelling character who exhibits great bravery. She is not worried about what anyone else thinks and is willing to endure social judgment and academic discipline in order to be true to herself.

3 Jesse Wheeler

While Jesse Wheeler makes some questionable decisions, he is undoubtedly brave. Despite all of his manager's pleas and the negative press that he receives, Jesse refuses to back down from the promise he made to the students because he genuinely believes that he did nothing wrong.

He is willing to stick to his principles and do what he believes is right regardless of the consequences. The other characters, such as Abbi, express their admiration for his bravery and confidence to constantly follow his heart.

2 Ethan Streiber

Ethan's claim that he is willing to do anything to help fight injustice is put to the test when he must decide whether or not to hand over his sex tape to be used as evidence in court. Despite his hesitation, he finds the courage to allow the embarrassing video to be played in court.

As the awkward love scene is shown over and over again and eventually leaks to the public, Ethan is forced to endure ridicule and judgment. While he is initially upset about this, he comes to accept it and face it bravely, knowing that he helped an innocent man.

1 Chase Milbrandt

After losing his daughter in a school shooting, Chase forms the plan to make a statement by allowing himself to be shot by the employees of the NGL on a national broadcast on the one-year anniversary of her passing.

Chase fully believes in his cause and bravely faces certain death in order to make this statement. He is clearly nervous and afraid but finds the strength to motivate himself to follow through with his plan. He has many opportunities to turn away but he refuses to back down.
