90 Day Fiancé: Tania Opens Up About Domestic Violence By Stepdad
90 Day Fiancé star Tania Maduro speaks up about the domestic abuse she experienced as a child. Find out what Tania revealed about her stepfather.
Trigger Warning: This article includes allegations of domestic violence, stalking, harassment, and verbal abuse.
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, former 90 Day Fiancé star Tania Maduro told fans that she and her mother are victims of domestic abuse. Tania is one of the few TLC stars who often speak about inequality, discrimination, and poverty. A few days ago, Tania made a controversial statement about Megan Fox and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kourtney Kardashian's love lives. Tania posted an Instagram story urging Kourtney and Travis Barker, as well as Megan and her boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly, to come out and admit that they've all been intimate together as a group. Some fans were confused by her comment, but Tania explained that she wants to encourage these conversations to happen in the mainstream.
In turn, Tania has also talked about her own sex life with her ex-husband Syngin Colchester in a very open way. When the couple was featured on 90 Day Bares All, they revealed some unknown intimate details about their private love life. Specifically, South African native Syngin candidly discussed intimacy and told host Shaun Robinson that they like to spice things up in bed. In reaction, Tania chuckled and hoped that her mother wouldn't watch the episode. The Connecticut native doesn't only talk about intimacy, love, and relationship, but also other pressing issues like domestic abuse.
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Tania shared her story as a survivor of domestic violence. She posted her beautiful picture on Instagram (post included below) and told 90 Day Fiancé fans that she was 4 years old when her mother met her stepdad. In the beginning, Tania's new father was "sweet, handy, very religious, and had everyone fooled" but their dog. When Tania's dog, Phantom, met her father, it growled as it never did before. It was probably a sign that Tania's new father wasn't good for their family. Tania, who recently ended her relationship with Syngin, continued, "So he was 'picture perfect' until... they were married. He moved us out of the state and away from our family and loved ones."
Tania said that she was never physically touched by her mother's husband, but she still witnessed abuse. She wrote, "Being spewed venom verbally, leaves its own mental scars." It took Tania and her mother eight years to finally get rid of him after the divorce. At the age of 31, the reality TV star still has nightmares about her stepdad stalking and chasing her. She added, "I see glimpses of people who resemble him and I freeze until my mind tells my body it's not him." Tania is also frustrated because he was barely held accountable. She explained, "legal system is so sh*t, created and still mostly ran by men, that he still walks free to this day." Tania, who has been questioned for her passion for witchcraft, urged her followers to believe in people who have survived domestic violence.
Many 90 Day Fiancé viewers don't like Tania's on-screen personality, but this post will make her critics reconsider their views about her. Usually, it is difficult for people to open up about the abuse they had suffered because they don't want to relive those painful moments. Alas, Tania gathered the courage and shared her story with her 130,000 followers on Instagram. 90 Day Fiancé fans are sending her love and strength.
