The Amazing Spider-Man: Which Character Are You, Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

0

Along with Batman and Superman, Spider-Man is one of the most iconic characters to have ever appeared in comics. He has made a number of important on-screen appearances, including in the two Amazing Spider-Man movies. Though this duology wasn’t quite as successful as their predecessors and successors, they were nevertheless full of interesting and compelling characters, all of whom left quite an impression.

Looking at the major players through the lens of the zodiac allows for a more nuanced understanding of their personalities, their motivations, and the role that they played in the story.

Emma Stone has established a career as a respected actress, and that makes her portrayal of Gwen Stacy all the more remarkable.

She is a dynamic screen presence, and as an Aries, she not only has her own mind but is also quite willing to speak it. Given that she is a fire sign, she is fiercely loyal to Peter, even though that means that she can also sometimes be impatient with what she perceives to be some of his character flaws.

Paul Giamatti makes a brief but significant appearance as the character Rhino, and though he doesn’t reveal very much about his personality, it’s clear that he has many of the traits of a Taurus.

The Taurus is a sign renowned for its stubbornness and for its dogged approach to life. That certainly describes the Rhino, who stubbornly believes in his own inviolability, at least until Spider-Man shows him that agility matters more than brute strength.

As with so many of the other villains that appear in The Amazing Spider-Man, Lizard isn’t simply evil. Instead, he shows that he has two sides to his personality, the side that is fully human and genuinely wants to do good in the world, and the darker, lizard part that wants to make sure that everyone becomes a mutant like himself.

He is thus very much in the mold of the Gemini, which has a reputation in the zodiac for being unwilling to fit into just one personality type.

There are few signs quite as sensitive and, at times, self-indulgent, as the Cancer, which can be very prickly and prone to taking offense even when none is intended. That’s precisely what happens in the case of the man who eventually becomes Electro, who mistakenly believes that Spider-Man has attacked him and proceeds to try to destroy him, even once it becomes clear that that wasn’t the case at all.

Once someone has gotten on the bad side of a Cancer, it can prove impossible to get back on their good graces.

In some ways, Peter Parker is one of Andrew Garfield’s best roles, and he imbues the character with a great deal of humanity and depth. He’s a person who clearly feels the burden of being a superhero, and who isn’t ignorant to its impact on his life.

However, as Leo, he also has an undeniable charm and appeal, and though this clearly endears him to Gwen, it also means that it is very easy for him to make enemies of others who find him more abrasive than charismatic.

Denis Leary brings his own signature brand of cynicism to the character of George Stacy, who takes a very hostile attitude toward both Peter Parker and the Lizard.

Being a Virgo, he tends to take a very rational and reasonable approach, and he also exhibits that sign’s tendency to not want to change their viewpoint, even when they are confronted with evidence that challenges them. At the same time, he also exhibits the Virgo’s protectiveness, as he shows in his relationship with Gwen.

Even though he has many of the traits of the Leo, it also has to be said that Peter is a textbook Libra. This can most clearly be seen in his ongoing commitment to justice and to trying to maintain a balance between his personal life as Peter and his superhero identity as Spider-Man.

And, like all Libras, he finds that sometimes it’s almost impossible to keep all things in balance, no matter how much he might wish it was otherwise.

There are few signs with as much of a reputation for being dangerous as the Scorpio, who always has the aura of danger hanging around them. At the same time, they are also known for being incredibly charismatic and alluring.

These are all traits that Harry Osborn has in abundance, and this remains true even as he transitions into his sinister persona as the Green Goblin (arguably one of the best villains in the Spider-Man universe).

In addition to having many traits associated with the Aries, Gwen also has many of the characteristics of a Sagittarius.

It’s well-known that this sign is the best at having fun--channeling the unique power that comes with being a fire sign--and that is true of Gwen Stacy. She’s a perpetual reminder to Peter that there are other things in the world that he should pay attention to in addition to being a superhero.

Martin Sheen is one of the most well-respected actors in Hollywood, with numerous extraordinary roles to his credit. He brings all of that to bear in his portrayal of Ben Parker, and though he’s only on-screen briefly, he nevertheless makes it clear that he is very much a Capricorn.

He has that sign’s practicality, good sense, and belief in justice, all of which he bestows on Peter, setting him on the path that will lead to him becoming Spider-Man.

Even though he is largely a Cancer, Electro also shows many of the signs of the Aquarius. Aquarius is known for being rather enigmatic and mysterious, largely preferring to stay to themselves and out of the limelight.

This is true of Electro, at least during the beginning stages of his career. However, he also shows that he has the Aquarian ability to take his anger out on others when they trigger him.

Sally Field is, like many of the other actors who appear in this movie series, a well-regarded actress in her own right, and she makes the most of her limited screen time.

In her hands, May Parker becomes the paradigmatic Pisces, able to show Peter the kind of love, compassion, and support that he needs as his life outside of the house becomes increasingly dangerous and chaotic. No matter what happens, he knows that he can count on her.
