Spurs leading race to sign 21-year-old Premier League full-back – report
Tottenham are leading the race to sign Norwich City starlet Max Aarons, according to reports in Italy.
Aarons, who played against Spurs on Sunday, has been a regular starter for Norwich since he was a teenager and is regularly linked with a move away from Carrow Road.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Jose Mourinho’s Roma are considering a January move for Aarons, whose valuation is said to be around €22 million.
However, Roma apparently face competition from Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Tottenham.
And Calcio Mercato believes Spurs ‘have the greatest chance’ of signing the 21-year-old, either in January or next summer.
Aaron’s contract runs until June 2024, so it is perhaps surprising they are not looking for even more than €22 million – surely an affordable fee for Tottenham.
The Londoners will probably want to sign competition for Emerson Royal at right-wing-back, with Matt Doherty struggling for game time and Japhet Tanganga preferred at centre-back.
Because of his age and potential, Aarons would be ideal – Spurs will simply need to convince him to join them over his other suitors.
