How to Find (& Catch) Tentacool in Pokémon BDSP | Screen Rant
Tentacool is a jellyfish-like Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that spawns within areas with water. Players who successfully catch Tentacool can evolve it into Tentacruel once it reaches Level 30. However, to find Tentacool, players must first unlock the Hidden Move, Surf. Acquiring Surf is essential, as it opens the possibility to traverse across the water, allowing new areas to be accessible. Such locations in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl include hidden islands and coves where some of the rarer Pokémon can be found.
To obtain Surf HM in Pokémon BDSP, Pokémon fans must reach a certain point when Champion Cynthia tasks the player to deliver an item to her grandmother. Cynthia's grandma can be found near the Pokémon Center in Celestic Town and will request that the player go battle Grunt, an NPC blocking the path to some ruins. Once he's been defeated, the grandmothers will meet the player and reward them with the Surf TM.
Getting to Celestic Town is a complicated task, and players will need to complete several steps to access its location in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. First, players must go to Pastoria City and defeat Crasher Wake to get the 4th gym badge. Next, enter the Safari Game zone and speak to the green-haired NPC directly to the right of the entrance inside. After receiving the Defog HM, players will encounter Grunt outside and must defeat him to continue. Later, players will meet Cynthia in the north area of the map, and she will help offer Secret Medicine to cure the group of Psyduck Pokémon blocking Route 210.
After using the medicine on the Psyduck to clear the path, players must use Defog to remove the mist enveloping Route 210's pathway. Battling the trainers along the way, follow the road to arrive at Celestic Town, where players can receive the Surf Hidden Move in Pokémon BDSP.
Now that the player has Surf, they can ride Bibarel across the areas with water. To find Tentacool in Pokémon BDSP, travel to any of the following zones with water: Canalave City, Route 205, Route 213, Route 218, Route 219, Route 220, Route 221, or Route 222. When surfing, Pokémon fans will have a 60% chance of encountering Tentacool and a 5% chance of finding Tentacruel. Once players enter a battle with the Pokémon, they can use a Quick Ball on the first turn to catch Tentacool easily. Quick Balls can be purchased for ₽1,000 at Pokémarts within the following cities in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl: Pastoria City, Canalave City, Snowpoint City, Pokémon League, and Celestic Town.
