Re: Where’s the Money Gone: St Andrew’s

I'm a season ticket holder and have been most of my life. Recently, there have been complications in my immediate family which take priority over Blues.

I've been to one game this season (Reading) and the matchday experience was rubbish, sitting in GM as opposed to my lower Tilton seat, not enough stewards outside the ground ,hand towels in the toilets and so many more things Dan picked up on in the piece really put me off contemplating going again this season.

I'm beyond my usual "ah well, it's Blues" rhetoric that has seen me through the last 34 years. It's just not the same club right now and it hasn't been since 2012.

If it wasn't for the playing and coaching staff plugging away as well as they can(regardless of their quality I can see they are at least trying), then i'd just look out for the results which is shocking considering how much I love the club and I wonder how many fans feel the same way.

The piece i've read this morning saddens me for many reasons and two things that are seriously wrong are points 10 and 16 on the graph.

A complete disregard for the local area (I wonder what The Blues Trust and or Blues 4 All think)

Their mission statement reads "

Our Mission

We the trust want to take a lead role in the club’s success off the field by taking the club closer to the heart of the community. We will use the power and passion of sport and the brand of BCFC, to make a difference to those who face daily challenges and to create a diverse and accessible range of programmes and activities to care for and educate our local people."

What I take from the graph is the club are willing to engage with the local community but are unwilling to invest in it. Ridiculous.

What's the point? What's the actual point of that? Considering the local area is pretty run-down ironically akin to the condition of the stadium, we'd do well if we can invest in the local community and provide people with opportunites.

Talent attraction and retention is the lowest one? What's the point in me giving the club my time and money when the club has no ambition?

The club has me over a barrel because of my blind tribal loyalty I have to this club.

The whole point of football is to win a game of it. To do that you need to be as best equipped as possible. Is any fan realistically happy with constant relegation battles in the championship?

Someone like Ren must have created this graph as he seriously must have thought the playing staff available would gain promotion and that's why it's the lowest option.

When are we actually going to be good if talent attraction and retention is our lowest priority?

I have ran out of patience with saying "Classic Blues/Proper Blues/Only Blues" to every ridiculous thing this club has done and continues to do under this regime.

We get told after every managerial appointment that "things are going to change" or "we've listened and learned" - i'm fed up of their lies.

In Deeney's post match interview he said "with the greatest of respect, it's Millwall not Man United" and I agree. I'm frustrated with seeing a fixture like Millwall/QPR/Hull/Reading away and thinking i'd be happy with a draw there. I know there is an air of entitlement there, I see that but it's more of an admission that our standards have dropped.

It's been a tough decade and i'm hoping what we have in terms of talent and the plans Gardner has for January/next summer are more in line with Deeney's ambitions.

I've ran out ranting at my desk whilst I should be working so i'll just summarise with, yeah Dan, I agree. Shocking. Proper shite.
Good post, many will be similar to you. I also hate not being able to sit in the Tilton. And home games are a miserly, only seeing mates in the pubs gets me through. At 46 I've never felt so disconnected with the Club and its aims and ambitions
