“Powerful counterstrike”: China assessed Russia’s response to US provocations near borders

Moscow has struck a powerful counterstrike in response to US provocations near Russia’s borders. This opinion was expressed by analysts of the Chinese publication Sohu

The United States has a large number of military bases around the world, it has 11 aircraft carriers at its disposal, Chinese analysts recalled. In their view, the military power of the Pentagon can only be compared with Russia, which has emphasized not on aircraft carriers but on aircraft, missile weapons and submarines. Sohu believes this is why Washington is afraid to directly challenge Moscow, as the Kremlin’s response may be too harsh.

“The United States has not loosened its grip on Russia in an attempt to crush its opponent with soft power. However, the Russian Federation has recently moved to retaliate”, – the experts stressed.

Earlier, it was reported that the Russian military deployed MiG-31BM fighter-interceptors at a military base in Anadyr. The publication noted that this locality is in northeastern Russia – just 600 kilometres from Alaska. Consequently, the fighters will need no more than 20 minutes to reach US territory.

“Apparently, the appearance of the MiG-31BM was a Russian response to the deployment of a squadron of US F-22 stealth fighters in Alaska. Russia’s move should be interpreted as a counterstrike against its adversary”, –  according to Chinese analysts.

According to them, the move is caused by numerous provocations of the US air force flying too close to Russia’s borders in the north. In addition, the political and economic importance of Alaska has increased significantly, which will inevitably lead to the activity of the Russian and American militaries in the region.
