Ukraine says conflict in Donbass is US-Russian war
The mayor of the Ukrainian city of Poltava Alexander Mamay said that the conflict in the territory of Donbass is allegedly a confrontation between Russia and the United States
On air of the Nash TV channel, Mamay said that “two superpowers – the United States of America and Russia” – are at war in the eastern part of Ukraine. According to him, students of the military department of the Poltava Technical University, in “unofficial conversations”, oppose external governance of Ukraine, particularly by the USA.
The mayor also added that there was not only a confrontation between Moscow and Washington, but also a conflict “between brothers” in Donbas. Mamai noted that the economic sanctions that were imposed by Kiev in 2014 led to the closure of many businesses and forced people to go to the stock exchange or go to work in Russia.
“Talking to the residents of our city a lot, I am more and more convinced myself personally and I see the position of the population […] It is very offensive that it is brother against brother”, – the politician said.
