Medina Spirit, disputed Kentucky Derby winner, dies

Disputed Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit died Monday morning following a workout at Santa Anita Park.

Owner Amr Zedan confirmed to Thoroughbred Daily News that the 3-year-old colt died of an apparent heart attack at the track in Arcadia, Calif.

The Bob Baffert-trained horse collapsed near the finish line at approximately 7:45 a.m. Pacific time.
