My sister got engaged to our other sister’s husband after she DIED aged 30

A WOMAN explained that she was devastated that her sister was engaged to her other sister’s husband after her tragic death two years ago.

The woman, 27, explained that she was the middle of the three sisters and that her older sister Kelly lost her life to cancer in 2019 at the age of 30, leaving behind her twin boys and husband Joseph.

But two months ago her younger sister Rachel, 25, announced that she and her sister’s widow were now getting married as they had comforted each other through a dark time.

Taking to Reddit, she said: “Two months ago we were at my parent’s house when Rachel and Joseph got up and announced that they were engaged.

“To say that we were shocked is an understatement but my parents said nothing after Joseph explained that Rachel helped him in his darkest times and comforted him a lot since they were both connected by Kelly’s passing.

“I just left with my husband and Rachel started crying after I called her disgusting to her face to do this to our sister.”

After some time had passed and the dust had settled slightly the woman said she got a wedding invitation in the post from the couple, asking for her blessing.

She said: “My husband laughed saying these two were legitimately mentally unstable to carry on with this and I couldn’t believe it either!

“I returned it immediately and refused to give my approval which caused Rachel to go on social media crying about how I mistreated her after she sacrificed her job and life to shelter her nephews and help them live stable life and make sure they don’t get stuck with an evil stepmother who might abuse them.

“Basically saying she’s doing this for her nephews to be able to grow up and stay close to family.”

But the upset sister’s views weren’t shared by everyone in the family as her parents didn’t disapprove of the match and thought she was overreacting.

She said: “My parents visited to talk and started praising Rachel for all of her ‘sacrifices’ and good deeds by looking after the kids and asked that I finally approve of their marriage and attend the wedding.

“But I lost it on them asking if they ever thought what Rachel did was okay. What about Kelly? Would she have wanted her sister to take her place?

“My God….the kids, what about the kids? How do they even feel about this? Who’s Rachel to them now? Auntie? Mom? Stepmom? All 3?

“And they think they won’t be confused and angry their own aunt took their mother’s place?

“If you’re saying you’re just trying to keep the family together the family is already divided and I won’t be surprised if my nephews cut contact when they’re old enough to do so.

“Mom said my behaviour was disgraceful and argued I was wrong in most of the points I made and called me judgemental and bitter to decide to guilt Rachel for ‘stepping up’ to take on a role of the mother.

Mom said my behaviour was disgraceful and argued I was wrong in most of the points I made and called me judgemental and bitter.

“She said I was selfish to judge my grieving sister and brother-in-law after I questioned the length of their relationship because if this was happening while Kelly was alive and sick, then I’m speechless.

“But if it was happening in the past few months then neither Joseph nor Rachel are thinking rationally.

“We went on for hours arguing then they left. I told my husband to block Joseph but Rachel reached out via social media saying I’m making her feel guilty with my stance and disapproval of her relationship and said I was making it hard for her and the kids when she’s trying to bring the family together.”

Fellow Reddit users were quick to weigh in with their thoughts on the situation.

One said: “You’ve lost one sister and are actively trying to drive the other away. There is no hint of cheating aside from in your head.

“These are both grieving people who have bonded over shared pain. The only problem here IS YOU.

“Stop coming up with reasons why it’s so ‘wrong’ and find out why you are really angry.”

Another agreed: “I think it’s really cruel of you to consider that your sister is trying to ‘replace’ your other sister.

“Unless there is history there – jealousy, copying, whatever – this is a baseless accusation.

These types of relationships are quite common, and even encouraged, in other places and times.

“People who are grieving the same person often become close, and this kind of situation isn’t that out of the ordinary.”

But not everyone was quite so strong with their response.

One person said: “I get why you’re weirded out by it.

“But try to realise that your discomfort is only due to some arbitrary social norms.

“There are no practical problems with it; just a weird sense of impropriety since you’re not used to it.”

In other real life news, we told you about the couple who are always asked if their children are kidnapped due to their skin colour.

We also revealed how a woman who thought she’d never become a mum now has ten kids.

And another woman was crushed after her mum told her she “didn’t have the figure” to wear a minidress for a date.
