White House announces diplomatic boycott by U.S. of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics
The Biden administration will not send any diplomatic or official representation to the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games in Beijing due to China's "egregious human rights abuses and atrocities in Xinjiang," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday. China on Monday threatened to take "firm countermeasures" if the U.S. proceeds with a diplomatic boycott of February's games. American athletes still will compete.
