Serbia excited about defence cooperation with Russia
The state-of-the-art Russian-made Pantsir-S1 air defense systems have caused a furor in Serbia. PolitRossia writes
Defense cooperation between the two countries has been developing for a long time. Joint exercises are being carried out and the deliveries of modern Russian armaments to Serbia are not limited to a single contract for “Pantsir”.
The success of the Russian-Serbian cooperation was assessed by Mark Episcopos, a columnist for the American portal The National Interest. According to him, Moscow and Belgrade concluded a contract for the first batch of Pantsir SAMs back in 2019, and by 2020 the customer received the promised systems.
“Belgrade has announced plans to purchase another batch of Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile systems. This indicates a strengthening of ties between the two countries”, – Episkopos said.
The US journalist notes that the Balkan state has become Russia’s largest defence partner in recent years. As a result of favorable cooperation Serbia now has several dozen T-72MS tanks and armored vehicles.
As is known, Russia is in every way supportive of states that share Moscow’s peacekeeping views. Serbia considers the Russian people as brotherly in spirit and culture. Hence the corresponding successes in cooperation, which can only be achieved through mutual respect.
