Canadian Urban Institute opens ‘My Main Street’ applications
The Canadian Urban Institute has opened its application to fund projects through the second round of the My Main Street Community Activator program.
My Main Street is a $23.25-million investment to help drive business and restore vibrancy to local communities across southern Ontario in the aftermath of COVID-19.
The program is a partnership between the Economic Development Council of Ontario and the Canadian Urban Institute, with funding provided by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
The program aims to revitalize neighbourhood main streets with a healthy retail mix while generating inclusive local economic opportunities. My Main Street will feature two funding streams: the My Main Street “Local Business Accelerator” and the My Main Street “Community Activator.”
Canadian Urban Institute will also host an information sessions and events to encourage bold, ambitious projects that will drive economic activity and support the inclusion of equity seeking groups on December 7, 2021. The organization will share examples of projects that are eligible, and walk through eligibility criteria and the application process, and answer any questions.
