Mets to Interview Rays’ Bench Coach Matt Quatraro

The Mets have received permission to interview Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro for their manager job according to Mark Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Topkin also notes that Quatraro has already interviewed for the Oakland A’s managerial opening.
Sources tell me that Quatraro is likely having his interview on Tuesday. The Mets are expected to conduct multiple interviews this week as they search to replace Luis Rojas.

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Mets have formally asked to interview Rays’ bench coach Matt Quatraro for their managerial opening.
Late last week we heard that Quatraro was among a list of names for the Mets managerial opening that also included Buck Showalter, Joe Espada, Brad Ausmus, and Don Kelly.
Quatraro, 48, has been the Rays bench coach under Kevin Cash for the last three seasons after serving one season as their third base coach.
Before that, Quatraro was the assistant hitting coach for the Cleveland Guardians for four seasons. Three of those seasons overlapped with Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor.
The New York native played parts of seven minor league seasons in the Rays system before retiring from playing in 2003.
