Spurs enter talks to sell centre-back in ‘quick-fire deal’ – report

Tottenham are in talks with Celtic over the permanent sale of Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to The Daily Record.

Cater-Vickers joined Celtic on a season-long loan in the summer and has proved to be a popular signing in Glasgow.

The centre-back’s contract with Spurs expires in 18 months, so the Londoners should probably think about selling him soon if they want to collect a decent fee.

And that looks almost certain to happen, with Celtic said to have entered negotiations with Tottenham.

The Daily Record claims the Scots want to complete a ‘quick-fire deal’ for Carter-Vickers as they ramp up their January transfer business.

A USA international, Carter-Vickers is now 24 – no longer a youth prospect – and has probably played his final game for Spurs already.

The only question seems to be whether he will leave permanently this month or in the summer.

In any case, Tottenham will make a bit of money on a player who came through the academy, so any deal suits the Londoners regardless of timing.

That said, it’s possible they will push to get a deal done now so that there are more funds to improve the squad before the end of January.
