Married At First Sight: Why Fans Aren't Looking Forward To Season 14

0

Fortunately for Married At First Sight fans, season 14's premiere is right around the corner, but not all of the romantic series' followers still have an interest in keeping up with the hit show. Although the unconventional dating experiment remains one of the most popular reality series, viewers who have followed Married At First Sight for years are starting to feel fatigued ahead of season 14. From the disastrous season 13 outcomes to a decrease in drama, here's why fans aren't looking forward to the upcoming season 14.

Unfortunately, Married At First Sight has left a bad taste in the fanbase's mouth. One reason why viewers were discouraged by the latest chapter is the absence of successful relationships. For the first time since season 4, none of the couples relationship experts formed in season 13 lasted more than a few weeks after the season's conclusion. What's worse, two couples that decided to stay together on Decision Day didn't shock fans with news of their breakup. Myrla never exhibited affection for Gil and Jose was intensely controlling of Rachel throughout their time on the show. Additionally, viewers found most of Married At First Sight season 13's cast members unlikeable.

From being too high maintenance to going behind each others' backs, fans were exhausted by season 13 when it finally came to an end in November. Although viewers might want to take a break from the franchise, the next installment of the experimental dating show is already slated to start on Wednesday, January 5. While some fans might be excited to have a new set of newlyweds displace the memories of the unpopular season 13 cast members, others aren't enthusiastic about returning to the altar. On Reddit, an exasperated fan asked, "Is anyone not interested in another season of this show?... I feel like I can predict the drama and there will likely be a couples retreat with a screaming match and someone leaving early." Fans think Married At First Sight has become more about predictable drama than an earnest analysis of romantic relationships.

On top of the recent entries in the franchise leaving much for fans to desire, the Married At First Sight season 14 preview hasn't convinced viewers to give the series another chance. After watching the trailer for the upcoming Boston-based season, a fan wrote, "I'm officially done with mafs... this looks not much better. Actually looks worse." After season 13's slew of divorces and unpopular newlyweds, viewers don't think season 14 will be the fresh start the dating franchise needs to reclaim its ardent audience. One major reason why Married At First Sight's followers think the reality series has dipped in quality is that the cast members are embarking on marriages for the wrong reasons. A pessimistic commenter complained, "The [show] has become [too] scripted and anyone that goes on this show is looking for [their] 15 minutes of fame."

Viewers think Married At First Sight season 14 needs to be drastically different from season 13 in order to restore viewers' faith in the franchise. From predictable plot lines to a lack of authentic cast members, fans believe the unconventional dating show has lost its spark. Hopefully, Married At First Sight season 14 will surprise fans and break from the formula that has fatigued the series' dwindling audience.
