Star Wars: 10 Marvel Comics Characters Who Would Make Powerful Sith
Star Wars popularized the iconic struggle between good and evil by pitting the heroic Jedi Order against the villainous Sith, their polar opposites. These evildoers took the quick and easy path to power at the cost of their own morals and ethics. Many Marvel Comics supervillains followed a similar path, which would have made them great candidates for the order.
If any of these already dangerous supervillains managed to unlock the mysteries of the Sith, there would be hell to pay. Augmented with the dark side of the Force, they would burn a path of chaos and destruction across the known galaxy, and perhaps beyond, if they had their way.
The Mandarin has made it explicitly clear that he wishes to dominate the entire Earth, and put billions of people under the heel of his boot. He's the equivalent of Darth Sidious in almost every way. Therefore, he is a platinum-prime candidate for the ranks of the Sith, as the Mandarin has committed some of the most heinous acts in Marvel comics.
With the power of the Ten Rings at his disposal, the Mandarin is already a force to be reckoned with. However, he's also an expert martial artist, which would allow him to master lightsaber combat in short order. These elements, combined with mastery over the dark side of the Force, would make for one fearsome being.
Only diehard comic book fans know everything there is to know about Mystique, who bounces back and forth between villain and anti-hero in equal measure. One thing is for certain - she's clearly not Jedi material. However, the allure of the dark side might prove irresistible to her.
If she ever decided to join the ranks of the Sith, Mystique would be one of the most powerful and efficient. Her shapeshifting abilities alone are a major ace up her sleeve, but it's her ability to resist psychic connections that would be her most deadly asset. The Jedi wouldn't be able to sense her even from a foot away, meaning she could wreak all sorts of havoc on behalf of the Sith.
Omega Red was a sadistic mutant who started out in life preying on the innocent and killing defenseless animals to sate his bloodthirst. This kind of cruelty would have sent him spiraling down the chasm of the dark side in record time, paving the way for his ascension to Sith Lord.
It's doubtful Omega Red would require a lightsaber in combat, as he could easily rely on his tentacles, which are made out of a substance slightly weaker than adamantium. It isn't known if either material can withstand a lightsaber strike, but it's a safe bet that it could take quite a few hits before coming apart.
In terms of abilities and powers, Lady Deathstrike sits somewhere in between the Sith Lady Lumiya and the cyborg General Grievous. She's a mish-mash of scientific techniques that has created a truly frightening warrior, with a vengeful attitude that would have made her a prime candidate for Sith ascension.
Lady Deathstrike's elongated fingernails are deadly enough on their own, and they're laced with adamantium, which would probably stand up to at least several lightsaber strikes. It's a safe bet that the Jedi would find themselves totally unprepared for a villain like Deathstrike.
The Sith ideology is based largely on the principles of passion, selfishness, and hate, all of which are used to further the Order's agenda. This kind of thinking ran parallel with the Red Skull, who was raised in Nazi Germany and inspired by Adolf Hitler's conquest of the world.
With a genius-level intellect, top-notch combat skills, and a strategic mind rivaled only by a select few, the Skull would have made for one frightening Sith Lord. Even Darth Sidious himself would have been afraid of the Skull's ambitious nature, knowing that he'd one day be supplanted.
Sebastian Shaw's aspirations know no bounds, and he's amassed a great deal of wealth and power in a remarkably short space of time. His ultimate goal was to conquer the world through sheer force, a trait shared by prominent Sith Lords like Darth Sidious.
Shaw's claim to fame is his mutant ability to absorb any kind of kinetic attack and use it to boost his own abilities. It isn't known what kind of effect a lightsaber would have on his body, or whether Shaw could simply absorb the energy from the blade and use it to amplify his own attacks. If this was the case, then he'd be almost unstoppable in a fight, while also having access to dark side powers that would further increase his threat level.
Mister Sinister has a complex past that only comic book fans really know in and out. Nathaniel Essex was a mutant obsessed with DNA and biology, specifically the fusing of it into his own body for the sake of improving his powers. In comparison, some Sith were also obsessed with manipulation of genetics and biology, including control over life and death itself.
As such, Sinister would find the secrets of the Sith virtually irresistible. In his hands, he could further experiment with his own DNA, particularly the amplification of Midi-chlorians in his cell structure, granting him incalculable Force powers.
Apocalypse lives and breathes under the ideology of survival of the fittest. Therefore, compassion has no place in his mind, and that's precisely the kind of attitude the Sith embrace. His passionate drive to bring his goals to fruition cannot be marred by appeals to morality or goodness.
As such, Apocalypse would embrace the dark side of the Force as a tool, and become one of its most dangerous Sith Lords. This, combined with his mind-boggling intelligence quotient, would make him just as dangerous inside a Sith lab as he would be on the battlefield.
The Master of Magnetism has been a sympathetic character in Marvel Comics, but he has also shown how much damage he can accrue through his mutant powers. If he ever embraced the dark side, he'd be practically unstoppable. Telekinesis is one of the most basic of Force powers, and someone with as much discipline in that art as Magneto would be a frightful opponent.
With the ability to control more than just metal, Magneto could amplify his powers a hundred-fold. His opponents wouldn't even be able to get close enough to him to land a hit. In theory, only a combined force of Jedi Masters would have the power to nullify his abilities, and even then, there's no guarantee.
Victor Von Doom has shown that he'll go to all lengths possible to achieve his goal of total domination and power. There would be no need for the dark side to tempt him. Rather, Doom would seek out those powers on his own, and try to harness them in as short a space of time as he could.
With the powers of a Sith at his disposal, Doom could easily rival Darth Sidious in terms of power. Worse, Victor Von Doom has shown that he'll sacrifice anyone, even those he professes to love, for the sake of his goals. The selfish ideology of the Sith fits perfectly with Doom's character, making him one scary contender.
