God Of War: Gullveig Boss Guide (Tips, Tricks, & Bone Locations)

0

There are many side quests in God of War that can enhance the relationship development between Kratos and Atreus, such as the Anatomy of Hope favor that leads to the boss fight against Gullveig. The only way to fight Gullveig is by collecting her bones and reuniting them on the Mason's Channel island where the quest was first issued by a spirit. While Gullveig fights like many of the other reavers in the God of War, she has back up from higher-level Nightmares, and a much larger health bar comparable to the Trolls in God of War.

When Kratos and Atreus first meet the spirit, he convinces Atreus that Gullveig can reunite them with Faye. Faye is the mother of Atreus and the wife of Kratos, and the thought of seeing his mother once more makes Atreus eager to complete this side quest. There are three bones scattered around the Lake of Nine that Kratos and Atreus must find, and doing so will revive God of War's Gullveig once more.

The first of the three Gullveig bone locations in God of War can be found on the beach located to the left of the Alfheim Realm Tower. To reach it, use one of the Shock Arrows gained from defeating Hraezlyr in God of War and eliminating the Shatter Crystal that blocks the pathway. The next Gullveig bone is on the northeastern Ruins of the Ancient shore, past the pillar and on the left side. The final Gullveig bone location is on the west side of the Lake of Nine, near the shore of the Svartalfheim Realm Tower. Follow the path up the wall to find the final Gullveig bone in God of War, then return to the spirit.

After speaking with the spirit once all the bones are in the God of War's possession, Gullveig will suddenly appear and she aims to reunite Kratos and Atreus with Faye "In death!" Her moveset should feel familiar by now as Kratos and Atreus have had to defeat plenty of reavers, though she does move around more so than any other. Stun Gullveig with one of Atreus's arrows, then use the God of War's Leviathan Axe to quickly deal massive damage to her. Some of the heavier attacks like Executioner's Cleave will help defeat Gullveig more quickly.

Additionally, using the Guardian Shield skill called Countering Blast will also allow Kratos to reflect all of Gullveig's ranged attacks back at her, but only if they are blocked at the last second. This Guardian Shield skill is particularly useful in this fight as well because of all the Nightmares that fire ranged attacks toward Kratos. If this side quest is completed later in God of War, players can also use some of the ranged attacks of the Blades of Chaos to help reel Gullveig toward Kratos. God of War's Gullveig boss fight can be particularly troublesome to deal with on the "Give Me God of War" difficulty, but the rewards for defeating her are a large pile of XP and Hacksilver.
