Joe Millionaire: Why Fans Think Kurt Might Also Be Wealthy
Joe Millionaire's Kurt Sowers might not be the multimillionaire his co-star Steven McBee is, but it's possible he has a high net worth.
The big Joe Millionaire twist was revealed during the first episode by the show's posh Brit host, Martin Andrew: "One of these men is worth over $10 million. However, the other one is not." The 19 contestants (minus Caroline Campbell, who had been dismissed the night before due to an unexpected prior social media connection with bachelor Steven McBee) reacted to the news with excitement, shock, and even a few "whoo's." However, viewers have been quick to pick up on what the English butler didn't say. He did not say the other was not wealthy as well.
While the women competing have been kept in the dark as to which bachelor is which, audiences have known from the beginning that Steven, CEO of the McBee Farm and Cattle Firm, is the multi-millionaire. However, that doesn't mean that Kurt Sowers doesn't have a sizable bank account of his own. Some fans are not so sure he isn't wealthy. Many speculate that the man-bun sporting Mr. Sowers may also have a lot of money. However, it just might be less than $10 million!
The speculation is not without merit. While details of Kurt's company are being kept very private in order to maintain the show's premise, it is known that he is the CEO of a construction and development company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to a Zippia search of Charlotte-based construction companies, even a smaller construction company employing only around 50 people boasts an annual revenue of $36.0 million. Therefore, it is conceivable that a CEO of a construction company in that area could pull in a handsome salary.
Additionally, followers of general contractor Kurt Sower's Instagram at @sir_kurt believe his photos depict a lifestyle that is much more lavish and luxurious than someone from a blue-collar background would live. He enjoys traveling and his posts show trips to Nashville, New York City, and Mexico. While these aren't exactly exotic destinations, his ability to travel as much as he has in the short time he's been active on the platform (early 2021), does indicate a certain level of financial freedom.
Interestingly, Kurt's Facebook profile was taken down before his time on the show began. However, photos from his mother Colleen Sower's, page suggest that she and Kurt's father Eric enjoy a more upper-class lifestyle as well. Kurt's Pennsylvania-based mother includes pictures on her page from trips to Las Vegas, Miami, and ocean cruise voyages. As far back as 2015, she posted several photos of a propeller-driven, single-engine plane including one with the caption "Phew, finally back safe. Kurt got to do the approach." While it is unclear if the plane belonged to the family or not, the caption does suggest Kurt had flown it which would have required him to at least have been taking aviation lessons, which are usually quite expensive. There are definitely clues that he may lead an upscale lifestyle.
If the producers have their way, audiences will remain in the dark about less-than-10-million-dollar bachelor Kurt's net worth right up until the end. Will his final lady really have to choose between love and money? It will certainly be exciting to watch the Joe Millionaire finale and find out!
