Who Is Your MCU Character According To Your Enneagram Type?
The enneagram is a circle with nine marked equidistant points. Each of these points will then represent a personality type. While individuals tend to favor one over the other eight, it's not uncommon for someone to hold traits of them all.
The same could be said of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, most of whom are by this point well-fleshed out, complex individuals. Some of the nine points can hold more than one character, but there tends to be one superhero who fits more in line. From Hulking monsters to reformed assassins, MCU characters are great fits for the enneagram.
The Reformer is a straight-shooter, they have principles and rigidly adhere to them. Their level of self-control is off the charts, but they're always going for perfection and usually have a hard time stopping until they achieve it. For instance, when Cap tries to lift Thor's hammer in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is just one MCU scene that keeps getting better.
Steve Rogers is a perfectionist in that he won't stop until a mission is complete, and civilians have returned to their homes. It sometimes goes awry, like in Captain America: Civil War, but Rogers always sticks with his principles. That, he can do all day.
The Helper has a big heart and they frequently demonstrate just how warm it is. They're selfless, quick to be a crowd-pleaser. Not as a showboat, but rather as a generous old soul.
Before and after the death of his father, King T'Challa was always a helper. He never allowed defeat or grief to slow him down from being an altruist. Time would've told if Black Panther would have kept it up, but the concept of him turning selfish seems unbelievable. The only thing that's sure is there would have been more funny sibling moments with Shuri.
The Achiever likes to obtain the optimal end result in a timely manner. They'll look at a situation and figure out what exact form of effort is required. However, while they are adaptive individuals (e.g. to a group dynamic), they can be showboats.
Tony Stark, A.K.A. Iron Man, is a showboat. But he's also a genius (billionaire, playboy, philanthropist) who can solve problems that very few others can. He's an accomplished man, who has solved problems for both himself and his team over and over.
An Individualist tends to be sensitive, yet they withdraw from the public. When they do make appearances, they prove to be self-absorbed and temperamental individuals. They're also expressive, which can take the form of physical gestures, dramatic ways of speaking, or excessively gaudy clothing.
Of the ways Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff are similar, their individualism is the most telling. Dr. Stephen Strange is withdrawn, usually sticking to the sanctum santorum. However, it's his expressive nature that truly makes him an Individualist. It's arguable if there's another Avenger who dresses as extravagantly as Strange, and if the 2016 film was any indication, there's never been a more self-absorbed MCU character. However, subsequent appearances have seen him reform a bit on that front.
The Investigator lives up to their name in that they're very brainy and intuitive. They're also extremely intense, which can make them offputting in a team dynamic. However, their tendency to be innovative sells them in the long run, as they can solve problems that few others ever could.
Rocket Raccoon, A.K.A. the triangle-faced monkey, has all of these qualities. He also holds a secretive quality, which is another trait in line with the type. But it's really Rocket's innovative, mechanically-inclined nature that truly makes him an Investigator.
Wanda Maximoff has many traits of the Individualist, but with WandaVision she's skewed more towards the Loyalist. This type believes in security above all, and it's better to have that on their own terms. They're also responsible individuals with an anxious, suspicious way of operating and interacting.
The Scarlet Witch did everything she could to protect herself. She formed an entire town with her mind and crafted a grand illusion, unfortunately bringing others in against their will. That may not have been responsible, but within the illusion, she's chosen to be a diligent mother, wife, and magician. If someone comes in and threatens the ones she loves (e.g. Monica Rambeau), it's war.
An Enthusiast enjoys a good time, displaying a spontaneous nature at the flip of a switch. This gives them a certain ability to be fast-acting, but they're also possessors of a very distractable mind.
Of the 2021 MCU villains who deserve a return appearance, Baron Zemo ranks high. His personality can be in stark contrast to the White Wolf (formerly the Winter Soldier), but there are similarities as well. Zemo is driven solely towards vengeance, and he will not stop until he gets exactly what he wants. Bucky Barnes isn't entirely dissimilar, but given how his brain has been played with, he's distractable with the right sequence of words. He may be mission-driven, but there was a time when that wasn't really his call. Someone above him was determining his actions, and this leads to him being fairly scattered.
The Challenger is the most powerful personality type on the enneagram. They dominate the competition with their extreme self-confidence and willful demeanor. Furthermore, if they feel slighted, they'll have no issue becoming confrontational.
Carol Danvers only needed a few minutes in Avengers: Endgame to prove she was the dominant Avenger. However, she's decisive in how she goes about her business. She may be an Avenger, but she's a galactic Avenger and wants to keep it that way. But in terms of power, there's only one member of the team who can fly through one of Thanos' entire warships.
The Peacemaker is modest and receptive to others' concerns. They know how to be agreeable for the sake of moving things forward. However, on the negative side, they can be seen as embracing complacency.
Bruce Banner makes an effort to be peaceful. As long as he's not Hulking out, that's exactly what he is. His scientific mind isn't prone to combatting Stark or Cap over just anything. Furthermore, at this point in the MCU, Hulk and Banner are essentially one, so he's now permanently a Peacemaker.
