Why Team Snapchat Messages You, And Can You Message Back?
Team Snapchat not only adds itself as a friend to every user instantly, but it also bombards them with Snaps and Chats. Users have a surprising amount of control over this new friendship, but those expecting any friendly exchanges may be left wanting more. However, Snapchat offers users the means to prevent strangers from befriending them.
While that's true in most cases so long as users adjust their privacy settings accordingly, there are a few exceptions to that. One such exception comes in the form of Team Snapchat, a username that automatically adds itself to the friends list the moment a new user opens their new account for the first time. So, the question now is, who is this Team Snapchat, and what exactly does it do for the platform's enormous community?
Well, simply put, it's Snapchat's official support account, which rolls in the welcome wagon for new users. It does so by sending users Snaps of what they can do with the app to help them get started or to help them discover new trends they might be interested in. It also sends users messages containing links to guides that help them get around the app, such as navigating the app's many menus, where to report problems, and the like. On top of all that, Team Snapchat occasionally sends out announcements, notifications and emails.
The Team Snapchat account functions like any other account on a user's friends list. This means it's also subject to options that users can apply to any other friend, including the ability to mute its Stories, notifications and even edit its name. If users no longer feel like being friends with Team Snapchat anymore, they can also block or remove the account from their friends list entirely. Of course, that means users can also chat and send Snaps to it the same way they do with all their friends. However, users shouldn't expect any actual interaction from the account itself as it only generates automated responses about various help guides regardless of what users tell it.
While it's possible to call and video conference with Team Snapchat, as well as challenge it to some mini-games, unfortunately, it will only be a one-sided exchange, since it won't pick up calls no matter how long users sit through a ringing tone, nor will it play matches from any invites. Since that's the case, users shouldn't report problems to the account and expect an immediate solution, as there are separate procedures for that. Sure, Team Snapchat doesn't exactly function like an AI-driven chatbot, but users should keep in mind that there are still plenty of reasons why they shouldn't send it any sensitive Snaps, even when it's just for fun.
