Rainbow Six Extraction: Every New Piece Of REACT Tech
Rainbow Exogenous Analysis & Containment Team, aka REACT, has introduced a variety of high-tech gadgets to combat the alien threat in Rainbow Six Extraction. There are not only returning Rainbow Six Siege Operators in Extraction, but a variety of gameplay elements as well, including weapons, abilities, and other gear. The resurgence of the Chimera Parasite demands innovation, though, and REACT's R&D department has been hard at work developing tools to help its Operators survive the Archæans.
Extraction is a very odd follow-up to Siege, but many items from the latter are equally as useful in the former. Window barricades and wall reinforcements will sill help players funnel enemies while completing objectives, while smoke grenades, recon drones, claymores, nitro cells, etc. all similarly work in the exact same way as they do in Siege. The even heavier science fiction influence in Extraction's setting allows for some more outrageous gadgets courtesy of REACT personnel.
In easier difficulties, players will be able to get by with some well-placed headshots and a decent amount of stealth. The new REACT tech will definitely come in handy when tackling all of Rainbow Six Extraction's possible mission objectives at higher difficulties, though. The waves of incoming Archæans can be greatly thinned by well-placed gadgets, while others will protect Operators when the game turns into a frenzy. Not all REACT gadgets are available from the start, and will have to be unlocked and then researched as players advance through Extraction's milestones.
The following list contains every new gadget introduced in Extraction, with two exceptions. Every weapon is automatically equipped with a REACT UV Light, which will trigger the Archæans' bioluminescence (even through destructible walls, as demonstrated in the picture above) so that their weak points are highlighted. One of the final REACT gadgets unlocked is an upgrade to the UV Light, the REACT Laser, which will destroy any Sprawl it is pointed at, saving players on ammunition.
- Ammo Satchel - Provides players with additional ammo reserves during an incursion.
- Anabolic Accelerant - Gradually restores the player's health whenever it drops below 50, returning it to that threshold.
- Arc Mine - Similar to a claymore, but will damage a chain of enemies that are near each other, even working around corners.
- Body Armor - Reduces damage across the board, but breaks if the player is downed during an incursion.
- Explosive Harness - Allows the player to carry additional explosive ordinance.
- Field Wall - A throwable item that deploys a shield on impact. The Field Wall deflects enemy projectiles, but allows friendly bullets to pass through.
- Glue Grenade - Covers any of Rainbow Six Extraction's Arcæans in its blast radius with an adhesive substance, significantly reducing their mobility.
- Paralysis Grenade - Similar to the Glue Grenade, but completely immobilizes the Archæans for a short period.
- Recon Vapor Device - The vapor released by this throwable item will outline any Archæans within its radius in red.
- Revive Kit - Used to revive oneself after being downed during an incursion.
- Scan Grenade - Throwing a Scan Grenade will not only highlight any hostiles, but objectives and consumables as well.
- Scan Mine - Has the same function as a Scan Grenade, but cannot be thrown, and is instead placed on a surface.
- XR Recon Drone - An upgraded Recon Drone which can scan for intel through surfaces, including enemies, objectives, and consumables.
Each of these gadgets have their uses, some are especially handy at higher difficulties. Unfortunately, unlocking the later ones requires a grind that makes Rainbow Six Extraction a repetitive experience. Though, more gadgets at the player's disposal can make it more interesting.
