Married At First Sight: Why Noi & Steve Are Off To A Romantic Start

0

As the Married at First Sight experts predicted, Steve Moy and Noi Phommasak have some of the best chemistry on season 14 and seem to be off to a very romantic start. Many of the other couples had handfuls of awkward moments, and some even appeared to be repulsed by their new partners. Alyssa Ellman all but abandoned Chris Collette at first sight, and Katina Goode was intrigued (and a little overwhelmed) by Olajuwon Dickerson's big personality. Noi from MAFS may have high expectations for marriage, but Steve and Noi, by comparison, seem to have more potential for a long and happy relationship.

Noi is a hopeless romantic who's traveled the world searching for love. She works as a talent acquisition coordinator at Simpson Gumpertz and Heger Inc. Her family immigrated to the United States after living in a refugee camp for several years. She admired her parents' resilience and ability to stick together, no matter what. Meanwhile, Steve worked as a sales engineer and software developer at Experian Data Quality but was laid off early in 2021. With a sense of spontaneity, he took off on a four-month-long road trip, sleeping in his car and going wherever the day took him. Steve then jumped straight into Married at First Sight and believed that the process could work for him after he witnessed the success of his grandparents' arranged marriage. While MAFS fans were confused by Steve's job status, Noi wasn't overly concerned. Her family warned Steve that Noi's outgoing alter-ego, Noisy, may come out to play every once in a while.

Both Noi and Noisy seemed like a good fit for Steve's adventurous ways. When it came to the wedding, it was mellow and peaceful. While Steve and Noi admitted that they were nervous ahead of the event, all nerves fell by the wayside when they saw each other. Steve celebrated Noi's family traditions, and Noi was thrilled he brought an alternate piece of jewelry for her consideration, in the form of a ring pop. When Noi approached Steve with a garment, she explained the importance of newlyweds wearing matching colors at traditional Laos weddings. Steve joked, "you should have let me know," and said that he would've done a complete wardrobe change to match Noi's traditional orange and red dress.

Fans may think that MAFS experts prioritize drama, but that wasn't the case at Noi and Steve's wedding. From the lighthearted banter to the palpable chemistry and late-night cuddles, the event was the most romantic by far on MAFS. Lindsey Georoulis and Mark Maher may have had a lot in common, but it was evident Mark was a little shook by Lindsay's endless energy. Meanwhile, Jasmina Outar and Michael Morency were at ease with one another but a little more cautious. Noi and Steve's playfulness was a refreshing change of pace. At least for now, their relationship feels romantic and easygoing.

Naturally, when it comes to MAFS, things can't always be smooth sailing. Promos hinted that Noi and Steve might hit some roadblocks. They may have shown up as their best selves early on, but the calm may not be meant to last. Regardless, MAFS fans didn't see any red flags and the sense of romance and butterflies is what the show is all about. Whether Noi and Steve make it to the end of Married at First Sight season 14 or not, their wedding captured what the hope of the show is all about.
