Uncharted Plane Stunt Is The Hardest Action Scene Tom Holland Ever Made
Tom Holland opens up about how the Uncharted plane stunt is the hardest action scene he's ever made in a new behind-the-scenes video for the film. Holland leads the ensemble cast of the action-adventure as the young adventurer Nathan Dark alongside Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor "Sully" Sullivan, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle and Antonio Banderas. Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer is at the helm for the film with a script from The Wheel of Time's Rafe Lee Judkins and Men in Black: International duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
Uncharted is based on the Naughty Dog video game franchise of the same name and will explore the origins of Nathan Drake and Sully as they unite to set off in search of a legendary lost treasure before the ruthless fortune hunter Moncada can get his hands on it. The film will also see Drake and Sully following clues in an effort to find the former's long-lost brother, Sam. After languishing in development hell for over a decade with various filmmakers and stars coming and going, Uncharted is finally gearing up to hit theaters this February.
With less than a month remaining until the film's arrival, Sony has released a new Uncharted BTS video exploring the filming of the plane stunt. The video sees Tom Holland explaining how the plane stunt is the hardest action scene he's ever made in his career and explaining how the sequence came together. Check out the video below:
The Uncharted plane stunt became one of the most talked-about points from the film following its inclusion in the first trailer. It has, however, been a big point of division amongst audiences and fans of the Naughty Dog game franchise, with some feeling it to be too soon to adapt the sequence given it hails from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, in which Nate was well into his adventuring in comparison to the film's early-days hero. In contrast, some have found it to be an exciting carry over from the games to the movie, namely in Holland's utterance of "Oh crap" as he's hit by a car and sent flying back into a free fall.
Holland's discussion of the Uncharted plane stunt being the hardest he's ever made proves a rather impressive statement given the amount of stunt work put into his time as Spider-Man for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The BTS video offers a nice glimpse at the extent of his work bringing the action scene to life as he is suspended from crates on wires and thrown around in front of a blue screen. Only time will tell if audiences respond favorably to the stunt and the rest of the film when Uncharted hits theaters on February 18.
