Horizon Forbidden West Strategy Guide Features 40 Different Machines
The official strategy guide for Horizon: Forbidden West is now available to pre-order, and it features 40 different mechanical enemies for Aloy to hunt, battle, and even ride. One of the most noteworthy elements of 2017’s Horizon: Zero Dawn was the many robotic creatures that roam the post-apocalyptic open world of The Claim, from the small, raptor-like Watchers to the towering Tallnecks that players can climb atop and tame with Aloy’s handy Override ability. Each of these foes comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, including weak points that are vulnerable to certain elemental effects like Burn or Corruption.
The upcoming sequel Horizon: Forbidden West promises to take players beyond the ruins of the United States that served as the backdrop for Zero Dawn, bringing with it the possibility of seeing fascinating new enemy types on top of the returning creatures from the first game. These include gigantic boss-like beasts such as Forbidden West’s new acid-spewing Slitherfang snake and amphibious machines that will follow Aloy underwater thanks to Horizon: Forbidden West’s new underwater transversal system. Guerilla Games has also promised that the enemy AI from Horizon: Zero Dawn will be improved in Forbidden West, making these robotic foes all the more formidable for Aloy.
Luckily players will have help in taking these beasts down, as Game Rant reports that Gurilla Games and gaming guide publisher Future Press are releasing a strategy guide for Horizon: Forbidden West. This new game guide, which is now available to pre-order on Amazon UK, claims that Forbidden West will feature up to “40+ intricately designed machines that stalk the Forbidden West.” These are said to include new foes like Clawstriders, Bristlebacks, and Burrowers on top of returning enemies from Zero Dawn like Chargers and Snapmaws. In comparison, Horizon: Zero Dawn featured 27 different robotic enemies, including those found in the Frozen Wilds DLC that was released in November 2017.
As was the case with Horizon: Zero Dawn, the machines are far from the only danger Aloy will come across in Forbidden West. Recent story trailers for Horizon: Forbidden West feature the former outcast battling against a dangerous rebel tribe residing in the titular Forbidden West, one that stands between her and uncovering the truth behind a mysterious virus threatening the world. Aloy will have plenty of options in taking all these new enemies down, as Horizon: Forbidden West is adding new weapons, a revamped melee combat system, and a branching skill tree that allows players to utilize six distinct playstyles in Horizon: Forbidden West.
Guerrilla Games has promised to give Horizon: Zero Dawn fans more of what they loved about the first game in Horizon: Forbidden West, including a diverse array of visually stunning robotic creatures that will either attack or assist Aloy on her journey across the untamed world of the Forbidden West. Players should expect a long journey when Horizon: Forbidden West releases in February, as recent reports have claimed that the game will take “several hundred hours” to fully complete.
