Star Wars: Finn's 10 Best Quotes In The Sequel Trilogy

0

Stormtrooper turned Resistance hero, Finn started off the sequel trilogy as an anonymous number within the ranks of the First Order, but quickly proved to be a courageous and loyal fighter. Finn was initially introduced into Star Wars in The Force Awakensand with rumors of a Finn-led TV show in the works, the character won't soon fade from fans' minds.

Portrayed by John Boyega, Finn had many great quotes along the way, ranging from funny to deeply touching, securing them as very much memorable.

In his attempts to conceal the fact that he had been a Stormtooper for the First Order, Finn jumped to agree with Rey's initial assumption that he was a member of the Resistance, and carried the lie with him upon meeting an actual Resistance hero. Despite the precariousness of Finn's situation, the way he assumed his new identity ended up rather funny.

Said to Han, Finn delivered this line with as much conviction as he could muster, but the result ended up more comical than convincing. Yet, thankfully, as Finn's character got better throughout the films, he did end up as quite a "big deal in the Resistance," making this quote particularly memorable in hindsight too.

Considering Finn's eventful past, it was understandable that he was scared of being completely honest about who he was when he first met Rey in The Force Awakens. Yet, when he realized the severity of the situation, and that the First Order were closing in, he knew he had to come clean to his new friend.

Finn was in despair when he told Rey the truth, and begged her to leave with him. It was courageous of Finn to admit to his past to Rey, and his vulnerability served as an indicator of his blossoming friendship with her. What makes the quote even more poignant, is the benefit of knowing all that he would become, and that he would find a family in the Resistance.

Finn's story arc in The Last Jedi saw him come face-to-face with Captain Phasma once more. Explored primarily in the first installment, it was clear that Phasma was Finn's sworn nemesis, for her position in the First Order and her extreme treatment of the Stormtroopers. Hence, Finn's victory against her was paramount to his character development and was an integral moment that proved that Finn should have believed in himself from the beginning.

As Phasma realized she had been defeated, she noted that he had always been "scum," yet, Finn corrected her with this epic quote and earned himself great vindication, knowing he had found his place in the world.

It has long been debated that Finn should've been the hero of the sequels, and his commitment to the Resistance's cause in the second installment of the franchise gave a good indicator of his hero capability. Despite the pleas from his friends, Finn bravely decided to sacrifice himself by flying into the First Order's canon.

Finn said this line as his ship deteriorated around him, and his friends begged him to stop, and it was sad yet stark insight into the anger Finn felt towards the First Order, as he was willing to die to stop them from winning. Whilst Finn was stopped by Rose at the last possible second, his courage was formidable, as was his resentment towards the enemy.

From teaming up with Rose to track down a code-breaker, defeating Captain Phasma and nearly sacrificing himself on Crait, Finn went through a lot in The Last Jedi. However, he still provided much hope for the Resistance, and his words were a much needed reminder of why they were fighting.

The Resistance seemed to be at a loss, as the First Order were closing in on them, with no escape route in sight. Instead of showing fear though, Finn showed confidence in their cause, and reminded his friends that they wouldn't be alone in the fight. This quote was powerful, and showed how courageous Finn truly was.

Finn's rescue of Poe in The Force Awakens was very much an admirable thing for him to, as he released the pilot from his restraints and led him to a ship. However, it was also quite funny given the fact that Finn was trying to escape as well, and had trouble keeping his composure.

Finn said this line to Poe after the latter was understandably baffled at the idea of a Stormtrooper helping him, but quickly surmised that Finn needed Poe just as much Poe needed him. What followed was a comical interaction of Poe realizing that Finn required a pilot. The scene did well to introduce Finn as a character who wanted to break out of the regime he had been ascribed too, whilst also showing a sense of reluctant bravery.

Whether or not Finn and Rey should have ended up together, there was no denying that they had a solid friendship throughout the sequels. By The Rise of Skywalker, Rey was very much in need of a friend after the tumultuous confrontation with Kylo Ren, that led to her believing she had killed Chewie.

Never one to let someone suffer in silence, Finn consoled Rey with these kind words, and reassured her that whatever happened, they would all be together at the very least. It was a touching moment for their characters, and showed how Finn had learned his lesson from the previous film to not be alone in anger.

After being made "co-general" by Poe, Finn took up the role well, and this line was as motivational as it was emotional. Having just lost Leia, her death hung heavily over the Resistance, but both Finn and Poe knew that it would not be in vain, and that they had to follow in her footsteps.

The two gave a brave speech to the Resistance, and Finn's line was a touching tribute that reminded them what Leia fought for, and how important that was. It was the first time Finn found his footing as a leader, and his words showed that he was more than ready for the role.

From the beginning of The Rise of Skywalker, it was clear that Rey intended to face the Resistance's enemies alone, but thankfully, Finn had different ideas of what "alone" meant. As Rey prepared to leave the Resistance base solo, she was shocked to find Finn, Poe and Chewbacca doing the same.

Rey told her friends that she needed to go alone with stubborn resolve, and Finn's reply was light yet extremely meaningful. He knew his friend was determined to go alone, but also that she wouldn't ask for help, so decided to just accompany her anyway. It was a touching moment that showed how much Finn cared for Rey, and that he wouldn't let her go alone.

As opposed to his stance at the beginning of the trilogy, in The Rise of Skywalker Finn had finally found a cause worthy of fighting for, and this line shows just how important this was to him. Whilst Finn may have been wasted in the sequels, seeing him overcome the pain of his past and realize his purpose was an important moment.

From having been taken from his family and being forced into a fight he wanted no part in, to winning a war surrounded by his chosen family, this quote is a touching reference to how he used his past for the good. For all the hardships he suffered, he came out a stronger character who knew where he belonged.
