Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Images Reunite Q with Jean-Luc

0

New images from Star Trek: Picard season 2 show more of Jean-Luc Picard and Q’s upcoming reunion. The first season of Star Trek: Picard saw the long awaited return of Jean-Luc Picard, formerly Captain of the USS Enterprise and now a retired Admiral. Picard, who is played by British actor Patrick Stewart, was the lead of the now iconic sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series followed on from the original series of Star Trek as a response to the popularity it gained while in broadcast syndication. The Next Generation’s success then went on to generate more Star Trek sequel (and prequel) series, and since TNG's first episode aired in 1987, Star Trek has had an almost permanent presence on TV.

Now, in new photos from Star Trek: Picard season 2 released by Paramount +, a closer look at the reunion between Picard and his old adversary is seen. The images show an older Q confronting Picard, with the ex-Starfleet Captain looking distressed and angry. The images appear to show the confrontation taking place in Picard’s chateau, which was a central location in the early stages of the show’s first season. Check out the full set of photos below:

The photos are bound to generate more excitement for the return of Q to Star Trek. The second season’s promotional material has given a vague outline of the plot, but there’s still plenty to speculate on (especially with Q involved). Q will be sending Picard and his newly formed crew to an alternate reality described as a “totalitarian nightmare” where they will have to figure out how to restore it to its proper status. However, audiences who remember The Next Generation will no doubt be suspicious of Q’s ever-mysterious motivations, and whether or not they’re as malevolent as they initially seem.

Q won't be the only character from TNG to make a return in Star Trek: Picard season 2, as Whoopi Goldberg’s Guinan is confirmed to be joining the cast. Whether or not she will just have a cameo appearance, a whole episode, or be a central character is still unclear, but her presence is sure to hint at deeper mysteries. Ultimately, more about Q’s plans in the show will have to wait until Star Trek: Picard’s second season releases on March 3rd, 2022.
