Man arrested after huge blaze rips through primary school at night
A suspected intruder as been detained after a huge fire broke out at a West Yorkshire primary school last night.
Dramatic images show an inferno coming from a building of Ash Green Community Primary School in Halifax.
Police rushed to the scene after an intruder alarm was set off and then arrested a man, who was taken to hospital for treatment.
It is not known if anyone else was injured, but locals were urged to keep their windows and doors shut after onlookers dialled 999 shortly before 8pm.
The exact extent of the damage to the two-storey building is not known, but West Yorkshire Fire Service a single-floor extension was ‘100% involved’ in the blaze.
Headteacher Mungo Sheppard, said on Twitter that staff and community are devastated but ‘we will all get through this together’.
