3.3 earthquake near South Gate is second of that magnitude in 2 days

LOS ANGELES — A 3.3-magnitude earthquake that struck about a half-mile southeast of South Gate at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday is the second quake of that strength to hit the area in two days, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Wednesday’s earthquake was about 10 miles deep. It was 1.3 miles south southwest of Lynwood, 1.4 miles northeast of Cudahy, 1.8 miles northwest of Walnut Park and 4.3 miles east of Downey.

At 9:26 a.m. Tuesday, a magnitude-3.3 quake struck less than a mile south-southwest of Cudahy and 1.8 miles northeast of Lynwood,
