I’m a mom – how I make sure my toddler never suffers from embarrassing grocery store tantrums and it works every time

NOBODY wants to hear a child throwing a tantrum in the grocery store, let alone be that mom dealing with the death stares people likely give her over her crying baby.

Luckily, a mom has shared the steps she takes with her own child in order to ensure a tantrum-free trip to the store.

The mother and child development expert, Lauren Mejia, revealed exactly how she does it in a social media video shared with her 416,000 followers.

Before even entering any store, Lauren recommended you sit in the car with your child and give them brief but very clear directions.

Inside the store, she said having a visual list of the groceries needed is key.

While a visual list of groceries isn’t anything special for adults, using one can become super interactive and educational for your child.

Another way to involve your child in the process is allowing them to pick which flavor they want for their snacks, according to Lauren.

Once everything on the list has been picked up, she said allowing your toddler to help during the self-checkout process keeps them involved in the experience.

Lauren continued to demonstrate the checkout process in the video by giving her child permission to scan a box of crackers.

Finally, when she stopped to grab a coffee, Lauren showed she kept her child in one spot by asking him to stand on a sticker on the ground.

This ensured that the child was out of the way and staying in one place at the same time.

Several fellow parents were in awe of Lauren’s grocery shopping strategy.

One parent wrote: “The visual list is so genius. I’m totally doing this!!”

A second person said: “Good job mama! We do the same.

“It makes trips so much easier!”

However, a few believed alternative methods should be taken if tantrums were to commence.

“Or you can be like my mom.

“Be a strong parent who will not back down to the demands of a toddler,” a user suggested.

While this mama shared how to avoid tantrums in a grocery store, a fellow parent revealed the secret to a tantrum-free car ride.

The mom said her “number one” trick for a peaceful road trip with a toddler is to travel at night.

Although it’s not the most convenient time to drive for long hours, the fellow mom elaborated about why it’s key.

“There is nothing more relaxing for all parties involved and it makes for much smoother (and more peaceful) journeys,” she told The Sun.
