RHOBH: Lisa Rinna & Harry Hamlin Reveal Secret To 25-Year Marriage
As The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna get set to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, they have revealed the secret to their long-term marriage. Harry, a movie star best known for playing Perseus in the 1981 fantasy film Clash of the Titans, has been married to Lisa since 1997. The couple is doting parents to two adorable girls, Delilah Belle, 24, and Amelia Gray, 21.
Before meeting Lisa, Harry had been in two failed marriages. He first tied the knot with actress Laura Johnson in 1985 but they divorced four years later. In 1991, Harry married actress Nicollete Sheridan, but their marriage lasted for just a year as they separated in 1992. Harry would have been forgiven for thinking he had bad luck with marriages but his third marriage to Days of Our Lives actress and TV host Lisa has gone the long haul. The couple has made several appearances on TV dramas and at events since tying the knot. They starred as the married couple Aaron Lynn and Lynn Echolls in the first season of Veronica Mars. They also starred as a married couple in the 2001 drama Sex, Lies, and Obsession.
It is not easy to maintain a marriage in Hollywood but Harry and Lisa have done incredibly well as a couple in that regard. Thus, it is unsurprising that some would be wondering what the secret to their long-term marriage is. The couple shared some of their marriage secrets in an exclusive interview with People. The 70-year-old Hamlin said the secret to his and Lisa's marriage is "being diametrically opposite." He added, "I like going up to the mountains, and her idea of camping is anything below the 10th floor of the Four Seasons." Lisa then revealed what she had done ahead of their 25th wedding anniversary in March. She said, "We'll be married for 25 years in March, and I've worked hard. So I've picked out a very nice diamond."
Although Harry and Lisa's marriage has been a good ride, the road to them being together was initially bumpy. Harry recalled how Lisa played hard to get when he attempted to court her. He revealed, "The Rules (a trendy self-help guide to dating) had just come out and it was written by women, for women to teach them how to get a man. And in that book, one of the rules was, if you were called up by somebody and they asked you on a date, you had to say, 'No.' You had to wait at least a week or whatever. And I knew that she had read that book."
However, Harry persisted in his attempts at winning Lisa over. He called her up and asked if she wanted to come to dinner at an Italian restaurant. Lisa asked him when she could come and he said in an hour. Harry added that they hadn't talked for months at the time but Lisa showed up and broke all the rules in the book. In her defense, Lisa said, "I'd just come from work [on The Days of Our Lives] and had no makeup on. So, I guess I wasn't playing that hard to get."
Harry and Lisa are one of the oldest couples on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. Over the years, the couple has learned that mutual respect and an unwavering willingness to listen are key to a successful marriage. Their beautiful romance after 25 years of marriage is also good to see and has helped them to withstand the tests of time.
