THE Chase fans have been spooked after they saw a ‘ghost’ standing between contestants on the show – did you spot it?
Thursday’s episode of the ITV quiz show was a repeat and saw four contestants take on a Chaser.
While first contestant Ollie made it back to his seat with £5,000, second contestant Lisa wasn’t so lucky and was caught.
Next up was Kelly and as she started her Cash Builder round, the camera panned to the desk where Ollie and final player William were sitting.
But eagle-eyed viewers got a shock when they saw a ghostly face hovering over Kelly’s empty chair.
One person who clocked it was Olympian-turned-presenter Sam Quek, who tweeted a screenshot and a zoomed in image and wrote: “Anyone else spot the ghost on #TheChase tonight?!”
One of her followers found a tweet by actor Will Mellor from when the episode first aired in 2021 where he tweeted: “There’s a ghost on The Chase! !!! Zoom in!! @ITV #ghost #thechase @bradderswalsh #spooky.”
However, Sam’s followers were quick to point out that the ‘ghost’ was actually down to social distancing measures in place at the time of recording.

One wrote: “Yes, people pointed that out last summer in a number of eps. It’s the reflection in the perspex screens separating the contestants.”
Another tweeted: “lol noticing the screens now lol the reflection lol #TheChase lol.”
The show introduced a larger desk so players could be spaced out more while filming during the Coronavirus pandemic.
To add extra safety measures, perspex screens were put up between the four players, and sometimes the camera angles combined with lighting caused reflections, in this instance, of William sat in his seat at the end of the desk.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
